I would cannibalize the unfaded tail for the pony on the left, repink the mane to match, and keep the one on the right for... *steeples fingers* experiments.
But I'm a monster.

I like this idea... minus the experiments.
It's just because I like the half pink / half white color.

I'm not sure if this has been suggested but why not keep both?  If you know how to reroot or can get someone to do it for you take the hair off the pony with nice hair and put it on the hair with the pony with the nice body.

Oh, I've found that cutting small holes in ziplock bags to thread the ponies manes and tails through does a nice job of protecting the pony from getting dye on them.

I like your idea of testing the color on a paper towel Blushing Blue! I'll definitely do that next time I've got a faded pony coming my way.

Keep the one on the left. Switch the tails and repink the mane and you will have a perfect Love Melody.

Thanks for all the advice everyone!  I can definitely switch tails.  I may one day give a try to repinking.  I think rehairing the mane would be a little beyond me.

I would keep them both as they are different, but seeming as you asked: I prefer the left-hand girl. Her body colouring is nicer, as you point out. And you can think of her tail as being graduate dyed; it's unique and I like it. Or, as everyone mentioned, you could always switch tails.

I would keep the one with the better body...which is a lie cause I would keep both...dont know how to part with g1
