MO Majesty Vs. Playset Majesty

Hello everyone! I just found out that I guess the MO Majesty and Playset Majesty were both made differently (I originally thought MO Majesty was just extra stock or something like that), and the main thing is that Playset Majesty tends to be of lesser quality than MO Majesty. Also I guess Playset Majesty has a farther back hairline? Maybe? I don't know for sure.
So, if someone could provide pictures comparing the two and listing out the problems with Playset Majesty, that'd be wonderful! I've been wanting a Majesty for a while and I want to make sure I get the right one. 
Also, as a side note, does anyone know is MO Majesty came with the crown?

I only have the one Majesty and she sports serious Elizabethan hairline. I always figured it was done on purpose though so she could wear her little Damsel hat crown without mushing up her forelock.
I can't say much about the quality since I don't have the other Majesty to compare to. But she seems pretty normal. She's still pretty white and doesn't seem to have any brown spots or anything.

Also, there're 2 versions of Majesty : purple and blue eyed.
I never knew which is which ? Playset ? MO ?

There's also one made in China, which is thought to be a later European release towards the end of the Castle's issue. The castle was out continuously in the UK and in Europe quite late, and in some countries really late. It's been theorised by some folk on the continent that the Chinese Majesty came from that release.

My sister has one she found here in the UK, but ponies can travel.

My childhood Majesty who came with the castle in 1987 (castle had a blue brush, not yellow) has the flat hair and rooted back.

I have another really pretty Majesty made in HK whose hair has full shape and is shiny and lovely. But I cannot remember where she came from or if she could possibly be a MO...

Can confirm that every person I knew who had a Dream Castle in the US around the time of release, we all had that weird Elizabethan hairline on ours and also figured it was so the damsel hat would fit better.

I have one that I believe is mail order currently, and her hair is rooted oddly.  The streak is just part of her top row of hair instead of a separate little row of holes, mixed in and she has flatter hair.  She is very white though.

Ya, this is a confusing one.  I don't know if Hasbro mixed stock, but of all the Majesty variations I have, the Mail Order one does seem to be of better quality than the others, just even in the way the plastic feels.   But it's one of those things you almost have to compare in person to see.   I tracked down mine as a set with the other mail order playset ponies just to feel confident I had the right one.

To make matters worse, some have thicker symbols vs thin symbols.   There's also a difference in the way the mane is haired.  Some of the plugs are spaced further apart and more random, with choppy ends (Sprinkles has this problem too) while others, like the mail order version, are nice and full with an even cut.  But it's really hard to know what are intentional differences, and which are just factory blunders.

@ashlyne - are any of them China Majestys?

My photo of my nice Majesty is too small to make out salient details so it's hard to know which category she falls into. I can about see she has purple eyes though.

I am not too worried about the difference between MO and playset with my own ponies, though, it's more that I wanted a nice Majesty. Mail order is kind of anathema here, and given how baby Half Note ended up coming with the playset here in stores, who really knows what Hasbro was thinking anyway.

All I know is that DC was still on sale here from 1984-5 till around 1987-8 and possibly later in Europe, which means potential for a lot of Majesty batches even after the US stopped...

@ashlyne - are any of them China Majestys?

I will check when I get home, but I don't think so. I'm usually pretty good at checking the hooves and making note of the China ones or if some say PAT PEND while others don't.

Oh my gosh...the hairline on the Playset one is so....so....uh shocking I guess. The hairline is the main reason I wanted to know if there was like actual differences because I heard people talking about it but I didn't know the receeding hairline was THAT drastic. I suppose it isn't noticeable though with her crown on...

Of the Majesty ponies I have, the ones with the full mane that goes to the horn have the nice full line of plugs and even cut.

The ones with the receding mane have a choppier mane, with the plugs spaced further apart. The mane doesn't like to curl around the neck and just kind of sticks straight.

Here's my weird Majesty of uncertain origin (but suspect mail order).

• Blue eyes
• Made in Hong Kong
• Pat. Pending.
• NO separate row for white streak which is something I've never seen before.
• Generally choppy/not that great hair that kind of feels weird and does not lay nicely.
• Looks like fatter symbol but I have nothing to compare to.
• The whitest pony I own, even with her yellowed head (which is currently sunbleaching a touch)

I also tried to find the difference and from what I saw the mail order one has a longer mane.
