Storing toys (short term) in the basement?
« on: August 22, 2018, 04:36:26 PM »
Hi gals and guys -

I have a question for you. We are going to have a bit of work done on our flat and I am worried about my toys. I want to store them temporarily (a few weeks - I hope) in our basement, but it tends to be damp at times. Normally I would store them in totes wrapped in tissue paper with silica packets. Is this OK? I have invested quite a bit in my collections and would hate to see them get ruined. Thanks in advance for all of your help :)

Throw some rid damn canisters around the area as well, and don't store them directly touching the floor or walls, particularly if it is concrete, stone or brick. And just keep checking them if you can. But it's not ideal, by any means. You've gotta do what you've gotta do sometimes though.

I'd only do it if I invested in a dehumidifier..

Thank you! Would it be better to try to fit the totes in a closet? Would I still do the silica packets?

Yes, utilize the silica packets any time ponies end up in storage.

Yes, Jamie love... lol.      You've got the right ideas for storage. If you can keep them in a closet at least then you can put in some type of damp rid container and that would really help to keep the moisture out.

(I could never keep ponies in the basement. We have two floor drains, so there's always excessive moisture and no way to really have a good control over it.)
