I survived a trip to the thrift store without buying pony! (+pics)

Yay me!
Because boredom, I wound up going thrifting and dropping by one of the very few thrift stores that are actually open on Sunday- Savers, because I like looking at ponies. Problem is- i have a tendency to buy when I start looking. But an already empty wallet and rationale (since I'm already packing my herd away) won out once I was there. I did, however, find and fawn over a lot of pony merch that they did have, but I didn't take home. (I don't think I can post in the Brag Arena, since none of it found its way into in my collection. )  Just wish I didn't have to go 30 miles to oogle ponies, but Goodwill (which is much closer to home) never has anything.
I'm proud of myself for not coming home with more ponies, but I think being broke at the start kind of prevented more spontaneous purchasing. I made a mental resolve to only come home with g1 ponies I may find in the wild, since they're rarer, since I don't think I can quit pony collecting cold turkey.

But I do want to share the lovely pony merch that I found! Hopefully they get taken to good homes and loved by their kids or collectors.  <3

There were also 3 of the other half of the MLP g4 6 inch Wonderbolts collection set brushables that I found ( Pony, Fluttershy, and Spitfire) that I didn't take pics of, that were there. So tempting to complete the collection.

I'm jealous.  Non of the thrift stores near me carry toys really.  Though I do find them occasionally at the local outdoor flea market.

yeah, I usually have to go far to find pony paradise thrifts. Goodwill NEVER carries pony toys. There's a store called ACTS that's right next door to our nearest Goodwill, and they carry sometimes, but places like Community Thrift and Savers, both which are a bit out of the way, carry the most, more often.
Hopefully the places near you start selling more often.

Even though it's a reverse brag, I think it's still worthy of congratulations!

It's definitely something to be proud of, I can find it difficult sometimes to walk away from ponies too, especially good deals. My partner will often physically drag me away from toys when I'm taking too long to decide whether or not to buy something, but even then I'll sometimes get almost to the checkout before I trot back to either put something back or grab it last minute. I have a few ways I try to manage it, my first thought is "Do I really want it? What would I enjoy more than this pony for the same price? Another toy, a nice meal, a gift for someone else?". Then if I'm still dithering closer to 'want' but haven't decided I'll sometimes put it back, decide on a day to come back and check for it, and if it's still there I say it's fate that I buy it. If someone else got it first then so be it, they'll probably enjoy it more than I would have.

So congratulations! Be strong and browse without buying, it's still fun.

wasn't easy. I had only gone with $3 in splurging money. In the back of my mind, I had to keep telling myself that buying any more ponies was senseless when I'm in the process of storing the ones I have at home. That, plus, I'm wanting to save up to go to my first pony con next year.  So no more ponies (if I can help it) for now.

Congrats on the self restraint, it takes a lot of discipline! I often have to do the same at my local Goodwill. I ask myself if what I'm buying is something I would have on display (meaning something already on display has to go to storage) or if it's something I'd buy just to put in storage. If it's the latter, I shouldn't buy it...hopefully that means that I don't!
