Heya everyone, I hope you're doing good !
Well, I recently got a second Italian Sunbeam and I am currently restoring her. The thing is, I need to get good closeup pictures of a mint Italian Sunbeam's symbol as I want to paint her as faithfully as she is supposed to be.
I would be really happy to get your help. As you can see, hers is pretty much faded all the way. My acrylics and paintbrushes are ready, I just need to see what hue I'm supposed to paint on her.
Thank you so much for your help, take care !

Thanks for your comment, this is so nice. ^^ I wish I could fully restore her, but I am unable to purchase hair for a long time. At least, she would have her symbols during her wait. ^^

You don't often see Italy Sunbeam with nice symbols, she seems prone to loosing them :(

I think she would have had metallic symbols, but hopefully someone will have a picture :)

This is the most distinct italian symbol I have. Other girls are faded like yours.

Must has been gold once.

Hope it helps.

Oooh, thank you so much !!! You're a real savior. :D So, her symbol is "kinda dark cyan-green~ish" ? It looks nice. I will have a closer look when I'm in a better state. ^^ Thanks a lot !

You're welcome !

Yes, but I believe it must have been gold originally. Metallic gold, I assume. Maybe something like the metallic silver on glory and Moonie's symbols. But golden.
And it faded this way... Blue-green... You can clearly see this is not the original colour (I mean she didn't come out of the factory this colour) , but a faded shade, but at least, you can see the shape more clearly.

I think I never saw an italian Sunbeam with unfaded symbol, when I think of it...

You think her symbol oxidized or something ? Woah. I though her symbol was originally that green-ish color an that's it. I'm impressed. Do we know any other pony who does that ?
So, what am I supposed to do in order to be most accurate ? Painting her symbol with golden acrylics ?
I wish someone who saw that pony the date it released and remembered her colors. =/

I think you can also try to get a picture of the symbol of an italian starshine...
Because I think it is the same color that was used on sunbeam, as it is that gold that always fade to that greenish color too.
But as Starshine is more common it may be easier to see one with the "closest to original" color.
Am I wrong ?

And it is the same on italian sunlight's clouds ;) And Tickle's feathers also I think

Good idea, Ponindependenza !
Yes, that should be the very same paint !

Ha ! That is a good question, RoseNoire... What to do indeed...
I really don't know... I personnally never ever re-paint a symbol, part for this reason. But I suppose golden colour is the most accurate choice, even if not the most commonly seen.
Why do you want to paint it, in fact ?

(By the way, RoseNoire, I believe we use the same toilet paper, hahaha ! )

:bigups:

They would have had metallic symbols and they have oxidised overtime.

Ohh, I see, so they did seem to have oxidized. That's interesting !

@lilico : I suppose I should repaint it with golden acrylics then. I don't have that yet.
I would have repainted her so she could be closest to her original self as possible, but I might want to do an exception for her, as her faded symbol is all she has left from her genuine symbol. I don't know.
It's kind of for a preservation perspective but also still for my personal taste. My objective is to respect what they are supposed to be, in a way. The choice is mine I suppose. I'll just leave her like she is for a couple of years considering my situation anyway. Plus, she needs a tail, don't know her hue.
(Heh, possibly. Colruyt is my go-to for groceries but I don't know my toilet paper's brand precisely. :'D I'm glad to see someone Belgian around here. Are you Flammish or Walloon ? :p)

Metallic paint usually has flakes of metal in it, so it can change over time :)

No, you're right, that's a nice idea, indeed.
And, as italian Sumbeam is not really a hard-to-find, you could consider to have more than one too. One repainted in gold, one with the blue-green tone, and another left as found. Could be interesting.
(That's the Colruyt brand. Very nice for grooming ponies ! Good for toilet too ;-P   Wallonne, oufti ! And you ?)

Oh, alright, thanks. ^^
Yep, she's not hard to find indeed, I already have too. The good idea would be to keep her as she is until I find another one and judge which one of them would get restored. The nicest one would remain untouched until a new upgrade and I'll work my way up until I have the ultimate, most preserved Sunbeam and 50k restorations at her side. :D
(Ohh, that's great, same here ! Oufti all the way !)
