Sugarberry Pose height differences?
« on: July 08, 2018, 08:55:15 PM »
I don't think I've ever seen anybody mention this in the past, and this is only something I noticed in my own collection last week.

These are the five ponies I have so far in the Sugarberry pose. Last week I had noticed that Scoops was taller than Pillow Talk, Tic Tac Toe, and Stardancer, despite the four ponies all sharing the same pose. After getting Taffy yesterday, I noticed that like Scoops, she's taller. All five of these ponies were made in Hong Kong. Does anybody know why these height differences might exist? And does anyone else have ponies in this pose of differing heights? And are there any other poses where this occurs? I'd love to know if any of you guys have noticed this with your ponies!

Yep! Wonder if this is another thing like the Flutter Pony pose variants...

It's more likely that their mould for that pose broke and to make a new one, they reverse engineered one using an existing pony. Making a mould from a pony will always make the mould slightly smaller. An original mould will be slightly larger than the ponies it creates. There are other people who has smaller than usual ponies, all probably a result of the same thing.

It does happen in other poses as well. The one that springs to mind is the teeny weeny pose for little Giggles...

I don't know if it is because of creating new moulds or what it is, but I guess it's just another sign that ponies are all a little bit unique from the factory...

That would make a lot of sense, thank you!

It makes them a little more interesting to arrange on display doesn't it?  More natural...

I didn’t know some ponies in the same pose can be slightly different in height. That’s very interesting. :)

It can also be different rates of shrinkage, due to varying plastic formulas - either during manufacture or simply from aging.

So cool that you noticed this: these small differences between ponies is one of the things that makes collecting even more fun for me
