Deflocking a So-Soft
« on: June 23, 2018, 03:35:52 PM »
I've been watching tutorials about deflocking SS ponies, and I feel pretty confident! However, I'd like to know if I should only use boiling water alongside powder oxyclean. Are there other cleaners I could use? Maybe a soft scrub cleanser with Oxi?  Or should I scrap the boiling step all together? For reference, I'm cleaning the flock off of a Bouncy pony and I'm nervous her blue hair will fade.

Thanks!

It should be fine. I generally loosen most of the off the flocking with hot water and oxy, then scrape while it’s still warm. Then as it dries out and cools down use acetone on all parts without paint. Sometimes you can get the glue off the symbols/eyes with just hot water and amelbow grease, but if the glue is tougher (which it often is on the head) you can use 99% rubbing alcohol and a cotton bud to get rid of the rest. Any curls will come out of the hair but that blue colour shouldn’t run. The only hair that does run occasionally is neon yellow and I think red?
