Maximum amount of text in a salesthread?
« on: June 22, 2018, 07:49:09 PM »
I'm always a bit nervous when adding to my salesthread. Just curious... is there a maximum amount of text or caracters for a post? I don't want it to crash ;).

Each post can handle up to 65500 characters (that includes image URLs, etc). After that I think it just starts to delete characters beyond that mark, but sometimes it can mess up a post if that limit is in the middle of an image URL.

Thanks. Does it matter if you hide parts underneath a spoiler?

Nope, it all counts towards the character count (including the spoiler tags themselves, and any other tags).

That way my spoiler don't have any use... I thought they would make the post smaller :). I've removed them.
Do the empty spaces between words count as a caracter as well?

Technically yes, every space and line break ("Enter" button) count.

If you are talking about your own salesthread, maybe you should consider to split it, like one only for G1 and one for the other gens? It should for sure, allows you to add more ponies without freaking about the character space?

I know, but that's not allowed. Everybody can have just one salesthread ;).

Awh. Well, maybe just copy paste the whole thing elsewhere, so you can have all back if one day it breaks.

That's what I did, hopefully I won't forget it when I update it again.
