Yes my guess is that maybe the hold is due to the trade war started by the Orange president.

It could be that many many things will become more expensive...

I don’t think the tariffs have actually come into effect yet.

They have so far as we are concerned. And according to this the US ones did on June 1st.

Yes there is definitely already an impact-  my aunt's company uses a couple of Chinese factories for their production- and one of them has closed up in anticipation of further difficulties ...

and of course Harley Davidson is moving to Europe, at least in part- since it knows it's European customers don't want to pay an extra $3000 for a motorcycle.

I dunno- I am not a politician and a businesswoman with marketing experience, but my take on the trickle-down will forever be debated and re-debated, and inflated to super-salty proportions because reasons.

In reality, I don't care. At the end of the day I just want my ponies and celebrate being a perpetual preteen where none of that crap matters.

I care if it means we miss out on more of these a: being produced and b: being sold in all countries because some people are still in political kindergarten and are throwing rattles and rusks at each other instead of talking about it like grown ups. (by which I mean politicians, obviously, not ponypeople.)

At the end of the day, only withdrawal of pony rights is able to make me truly angry in this political mess of a world in which we live...

My guess is just everything being up in the air is enough to make manufacturers and companies back away from projects like these.  Lets hope it's only temporary.  But my guesses as to why its a problem:

They don't know what they need to charge in order to make a profit.
They don't know if their supplier is going to or has closed up shop because of tariffs on raw materials.
They don't know if they can keep prices low enough to keep consumers interested and so on.

I'm assuming that making cheap plastic collectable toys is only profitable if they stay cheap.

In the end, I want my PONIES!!!  I love the ones I've found so far.  I hope they can make them and more available around the world.

Well, I care. I care a lot.  But I won't turn this into a political essay.

I am glad I was able to order the ponies- I wish I had ordered the singles now- I had been on the fence but don't want to pay $20 each for them.

Bad enough that orange turd wants to mess up all the important stuff. He's even found a way to mess up toys.

I am of the opinion that it's a worthwhile trade-off to pass on reprinted ponies if it means I can get better employment with companies that aren't going to leave home base, be paid what I'm worth due to healthy competition between businesses and be part of a more productive national economy. I've taken quite a few hits on the employee level because of businesses leaving the US, and in return they pay beans for outsourced labor. This has affected my income both ways, ponies and day-to-day life.

In the end it means that I will have a better chance at collecting in general by having a job that won't leave me for cheaper labor elsewhere...

The lucrative factory jobs of the 50s are never coming back.  Those jobs were automated out of existence.  Robots do them now.  Curse you, Megatron.

The US tariffs will cause other countries to retaliate with their own tariffs.  It's going to be a mess.

That's my only comment on the issue.  Back to ponies.

The Megatron comment made me laugh. XD

Trump is a stupid jerk who shouldn't even be in charge of teaching kindergarteners  their ABCs, let alone a country. But we all knew that. :pout:

I'm not in a position to comment on the US, and I won't.

All I'll say is that as a Briton, having lived through 2 years of Brexit uncertainty...

Companies will always move out to somewhere where they can operate more cheaply, or they will go bust under the pressure of costs they can't meet. In the UK we've seen some big store chains go, costing thousands of jobs already, and Brexit hasn't happened yet.

Many companies have threatened to leave the UK - some already have, some are waiting to see if we negotiate a trade deal with the EU which maintains some parity with the current no-tariff agreement.

We've also probably lost potential investments from outside which would provide jobs in places that have been heavily hit by outsourcing and mechanisation, including defence contracts and the like. Big investors such as Japanese and Korean companies have already expressed doubts about committing to contracts that would provide a lot of people with jobs and keep manufacturing plants open.

Businesses are not altruistic. They don't care about anything but making the best profit margin, and they're going to do that wherever it's cheapest to do it.

And, having put up with two years of frankly garbage related to the mess of our economy, our politics and whatever else...I deserve retro ponies. We all do O.o.

...Also, someone needs to keep the rogue transformers under control ;)

I don't want to dash anyone's hopes but, I'm sure wrecking havoc on the toy industry would cost more US jobs than it would create.

Blaming Megatron sounds just about right.

Retro ponies for all!

Yeah he doesn't realize that. Or worse he doesn't care. Wants to tear down sustainable energy jobs and get rid of other businesses.
