UK folks!

I just received my Amazon delivery of the Pretty Parlour!

Box seems smaller than I remember first time round (I was only a kid though!)

Not opening it yet as it will be a birthday gift  (next month) for my little girl - she has always wanted one and now I can gift her her very own, new G1 pony playset!  :frolic: :frolic: :frolic:

Aww I'm sure she'll have a blast. The Pretty Parlor is such fun.
Thanks to TheRockinStallion for my Ponysona Artless

Today my Target only had the Pretty Parlor and a few Collector ponies. The unscented Rainbows were gone.

Congrats Glitterball. :cheer: :cheer:

So looking for a new retro moonstone since mine have a few factory errors on the body, the mold had a bad day, and we across the sea can get some more retro

Our Target still has the other waves including the original six. None of the new ones yet!

I only found the unicorn/pegasus wave once at my local target. It has been a plethora of original six and rainbows but the shelves are picked over every time I go - so hopefully that means they're selling well!

I love that they are labeling these as classic!! I'm very curious to see what other waves they'll release. I would be all over new so softs or twinkle eye ponies. A brand new Mimic? SIGN. ME. UP.

I do love the ponies coming out-

Although I think I am not alone in hoping wishing they would release something that is a little harder to find than all of the ponies released to date (all of which you can pick up on ebay for pretty cheap)

But of course I know why- they are not catering to US, they are catering to your average mom who is shopping in the isle for her kid and stumbles upon these and wants to get the pony or ponies that THEY had for their own kids (nostalgia factor)

Still, if the line keeps up, I'm hoping they get more daring!!!

Just found the new sitting / shy pose set at Seattle Northgate Target. :)  Not at downtown Seattle Target yet.

I did buy Moondancer at the downtown Target and the cashier freaked out because she remembered having her as a kid.  "I need this in my life" were her exact words, lol.

I am absolutely fine with them continuing in this vein, if it means they finally sell ponies here that never saw a UK release ;) Some of the US release ponies as retros are the same as new ponies for most of the UK market, so yeah. I'm absolutely fine with it.

Although the one negative part about the internet and sharing information is knowing how much longer we have to wait for all this stuff you guys are turning up...

In the eighties, that was true too - but we didn't know what we were waiting for or what we didn't get...

I'd like to see some European exclusives released in the US as well, like the Mountain Boys.

I really don't think it will happen though. I mean, I guess it might, but it seems unlikely when there are so many better known characters to throw at the US market.

I think the Tales ponies are *more* possible than Mountain Boys. I think Basic Fun could be persuaded to make those as they have a presence in the US only were never released there (like Moondancer etc here). But the Mountain Boys...it's kind of hard to persuade a company to make something because the real ones are too expensive and only sold in a remote few locations a long way away. The point is to trigger nostalgia and memory, so if nobody on the whole US continent has nostalgia for them, I'm guessing it's not likely to happen.

But I might be wrong. They are interested in our discussions and following our comments, so maybe they'll see the love for the MB set and make an exception. I guess we'll see.

I guess it also depends on where they'd have to apply for the rights and if they have to apply for specific sets from Hasbro. And the trend even here in the UK has been to go with the US nostalgia, rather than our own (hence all the junk with Princess Sparkle, rather than Amethyst). So it's like even Hasbro UK lost its own identity in the licencing process for merchandise and retro stuff, even as early as the dollymix ponies. I wonder how much serious digging it would require to even find the data relating to the MB ponies...or whether it's not necessary for them to go to so much trouble, because they're all just Hasbro ponies in the end??

(One other thing - they've thus far used originals to base their retros off. It might be more appealing to pay $3 for a Glory to use as a basis than $100 for an Ice Crystal for that purpose...)

Is it possible they might bring back the Magic Castle with Majesty and Spike?

I am still rooting for the Kitchen, mines are most likely an empty shell when I find it  >_<

That would be so cool! Even though I don't have a place to put it. The Pretty Parlor showed up out of NOWHERE last year and was my most anticipated release. I think I'd rather have the Waterfall though, because it's a lot harder to find!

I’d rather have the Waterfall because I don’t own it already.  But it also has the benefit of being smaller.  It could probably fit in a similar size box as the Parlor.  If they did the Castle, Target would only be able to fit one in the space they currently have 6 Parlors. So both Target and Basic Fun would really need to be convinced that lots of people would buy the larger play set.  On the other hand,  I could possibly see Walmart carrying the castle for the run up to the holidays like they did with the collector ponies.  Guess it depends on how well the collector ponies sold for Walmart.
