Satin 'n Lace - So Soft VS Lavender VS Magenta
« on: June 04, 2018, 09:18:20 AM »
Can anyone help me with some info?  I'm curious about the three versions of Satin 'n Lace that exist. The only MO brochures I've found have been for Lavender Satin 'n Lace with Tux 'n Tails, so where did the SS and Magenta versions come in?  Are they simply different versions offered during later years in the MO brochures, or was one of them some kind of international variation?  Has anyone ever seen promotional material picturing the SS or Magenta versions?

Thanks!  :)

Yes, they are from different offers.  :)  So-Soft Satin 'n Lace was the first version offered.  There was no groom pony at the time.  IIRC her brochure  offered her, Baby Lucky (her cousin), the Pretty Parlor (but without Peachy), the Collector ponies, and the Birthflower ponies.  So-Soft Satin 'n Lace was advertised as being "a soft lavender", but I've heard that she is actually magenta under her flocking.

I'm not sure where the magenta NSS version comes into play, but my guess would be she was a transition between the So-Soft and the later NSS lavender version.

I remember the brochure LadyMoondancer is talking about. :)  It had Satin n Lace on the front. and also mentioned Lucky who I think was going to be the ring bearer at the wedding.  There's not a picture of it on the wiki

She was also offered in the Sparkle pony brochure

It looks like the regular Magenta version to me but this must be a protoype because she's in the collector pose

and the Ponyland one

The SS one is magenta under the flocking and I guess magenta s&l came from excess stock production plans that didn't get flocked for some reason...I dunno. Though I did hear rumours of a flocked pale one I have never seen one.

You can kind of see it in my picture (scroll down, bottom right) that she's magenta underneath.

Satin & Lace wasn't sold in the UK and I am pretty sure not in Europe as we didn't go in bigstyle for mail orders. We had Lucky but that was it. Confetti was our bride pony from about the same time. Can't speak for Australia or NZ though.

In any case, all 3 are US and Canadian release for sure. Though the Sparkle pony pamphlet does look like a stand in Cotton Candy...
