What do you guys do with your broken Summer Wings?
« on: June 02, 2018, 10:03:22 AM »
What do you guys do with your broken windy/summer wings?  A month ago I got a lot that had two summer wing ponies.  They were ones I already had, so I figured I would trade them off at a later date.
Well, Buzzer has been sitting on my shelf for a month, and I never noticed until today that the apex of her right wing is missing.  You may be able to see it in this picture of the lot if you have a good eye:

Would you
1.  Leave her as is?
2.  Remove both her wings?
3.  Or, I was thinking I would take scissors and round off the edge, giving her smaller wings.  I would have to trim the wing tail too just so it wouldn't look wierd.

What would you do?

Personally, I'd replace them. I believe you can buy replicas of the wings that look close enough to the originals. Or you could make her some new wings!

If it's only one wing that's missing I would just replace the one wing - you could find a 'donor' pony that has a problem with the opposite wing or sell her to a less picky collector and buy one in better condition. It's a shame to take the other wing out if it's perfectly fine.

I found a Flurry at a fleamarket many years ago with no wings at all, and then another summer wing a few years later with really chewed up wings. I bought them both replacement wings from pinkkittywinks and they are fantastic! :)

For yours, I would personally leave her as is since she still has most of her original wings intact. You might be able to find a better condition one in the future and then sell or trade off your damaged one.

It looks like a small enough scuff for me to just leave intact. Maybe make a story about how she lost her wing so she can complain to the other wingers.

I knew someone made replacement flutter wings, but not summer wings.  I will definitely look into that.  Thanks guys.

^.^

Personally I'd leave them, I only replace wings on my ponies if they are completely missing. She is your pony, so it's upto you ;)

I have to admit that the idea of cutting the wings in any shape or form made me shiver.

If the wings bother you I think they can be removed and replaced so then you couldf keep the original wings and have a display set for your pony as well...

I have a couple of wingers with no wings (Glow and Cool Breeze) who just hang around my cupboard without wings. I haven't ever thought about giving them new ones because it's so much harder to store wingers and I already have all of mine and two of my sister's to accommodate. But if I did, I'd find them some unique wings rather than replicas of their original ones.

I also have a Franky Buzzer type whose one wing is missing. I've just left her as she is. It adds to the Frankenpony effect ;)

I don't personally own any Wingers, only Flutter Ponies. But I do have some ideas:
* If it's minor enough, I'd probably ignore it.
* If it was a bit bigger, I'd try to patch it
* If it was really bad or the wing was outright missing, I'd bodge-fabricate a replacement.
should be perma-moderated

If original wings are there I would leave them be. They are found without wings so often it's sad to end an irigi 00am wing. Even if the other wing does not match. I have a hard time altering the original unless nothing else can be done.

I make wings for all my wingless ponies.

My winger had wings but they were chewed on what looked like a cats doing. I just threw glitter on them I  the same pattern so they look smooth.

Personally? I'd leave it as is and create a fun story about how it happened to her <33

I'd just leave it be. It looks like it's just the tip. For some reason, it immediately brought to mind stray cats who have been captured, fixed, and then released. They usually mark them by clipping the tip of their ear off.

Any who, since you said you didn't even notice it yourself for the longest, I'd just let it be.

If you really wanted, you could style the mane so it covers it up a bit!  ^.^

I'd leave it as is and make up a story about how part of her wing got bitten off by a dragon or something.  I wouldn't replace the wing because it's 80% complete and I definitely wouldn't trim the other wing.

I'd say if it really bothers you, sell her off and buy a replacement.

My intention was to trade or sell, as I already had my own Buzzer.  But once I realized the wing tip was missing I figured no one would want her and she's here to stay.
