Yes that my Bobbie on wiki she is sadly Semi MIB as the seller decided to remove her to take better pics

Loving that other MIB Bobbie its first time I’ve seen her... she has a U.K. box but the inlay castle packaging came with the Italian MIB Princess ponies and possibly German (I don’t think I’ve seen a MIB German princess before so can’t be sure).

I *think* the German Princesses were carded, I know I've seen carded French Princesses :) they didn't come with an attendant if they were carded.

Costalot was a Romper, no symbols  sadly for her, as a result of my mum goading me into it, I painted a symbol onto her. Oops.

She got a green £ with gold glitter.

Years later, when I realised what I had done to her, I removed that, but it has stained her quite a bit. It's one of those instances where you just want to reach back into the past and give yourself a good slap in the chops for your own idiocy.

She also has biro ink on one leg, after somebody with ink on their fingers picked her up to have a closer look at her

Thank you *wyvernchick* for my lovely avvie!

I have an advert somewhere for German princesses and they don't mention attendants. I also think they were carded like the French ones. I have seen one of the alt versions MOC a long time ago - possible Opal, can't remember now - but not one of the regular ones so can't be 100% sure.

Good call on the Italian inlay. I was trying to figure out what looked off.

OOOH I too was wondering what was different with the back of the box! Well spotted.

I have a couple of German adverts, as well as a leaflet featuring the Princesses and there is no mention of attendants.

I checked my images on my PC and I only have images of Princess Aquamarine and Sapphire on French cards in regular colours. I don't think I have ever seen a German pony MOC :( however I am certain they were carded from discussions I have had with German collectors and various threads here.

I vote to rename Romper with no symbols Costalot :lmao:

Query: How on earth do you tell if it's a true variant or if it's just some ponies a kid frankenstein'd together? I mean, if they're MIB or already a known variant that's obvious, but what about loose ones found on the second hand market? If some new combination popped up on eBay, are there any specific traits to look for to verify its authenticity?

It being in the UK is a good starting point.

Also, most of the hybrids that exist come from specific types of pony. Most specifically, with the Princess hybrids, they also often come with Princess parts from ponies not sold in the UK in other ways. Also the accessories in the lot, if any, can add to that as well. The Happytails ponies were also only sold here through import, and all the Woosie variants known as far as I am aware use bits of lavender woosie who is rarer anyway.

And then you have to take into consideration the tinsel, for example I have a Princess Ruby variant with white hair (Taffeta) but aqua blue tinsel (I think Princess Amethyst).  Taffeta herself has tricolor tinsel in her mane, so to get that effect would require combining two separate features from two ponies and then adding them to a third body. This pony also then has the wrong symbol (I think Dawn's) so we're talking sacrifice of four ponies to achieve one pony whose overall value is equal or less than the sum of its parts...?

Possibly maybe for a scammer to fabricate a variant, although it would take a lot of work and probably not be worth it because it would mean sacrificing multiple ponies of reasonable value to achieve.

Really unlikely for a kid to create one.

Ahhh, that makes a lot more sense. I never really noticed that they had like 3-4 separate components as opposed to just a head swap/tail swap sort of thing going on.

Taffeta explained it really well :) It is not just a case of a head and body swap, they are indeed made up of a number of different components from several ponies. This is explained in the Princess Variant Spotlight (which I need to review and repost ;) )

Here is a nice example: Princess Moon-Bob

* Tall Tails's/Bobbie's head (it's squishy) with a pink mane.
* Princess Moondust body
* Princess Dawns symbol, BUT the red jewel in the centre is the WRONG jewel for Princess Dawn, it is round and red and actually belongs to Princess Sunbeam.

So if you were to "make" this pony yourself, you'd need the following: Bobbie (head), Princess Dawn (symbols), Princess Moondust (body), Princess Sunbeam (round, red jewel) and a fading pink tail.
