Here are a few photos of my own examples from 2013 uploaded onto my old website:https://everythingdreamer.wordpress.com/my-little-pony-g1-comics/g1-comic-photos/Green/playing card-symbolled Ace is on Heck Yeah Pony Scans somewhere. I actually own the issue now, but LM's scans are far better quality than my own could ever hope to be. Interestingly, I also recall one issue (I thiiink MLP and Friends 45) featured a story with JAL and TAL where Ting-A-Ling with renamed Ding-A-Ling and confirmed to be male. Weren't they both female in the show? It's not as if their gender is overtly shown, but their voices sound pretty feminine to me.
I did a custom of Ace a while back from a Lucky that had permanent marker stains and his hair cut clean off.visitors can't see pics , please register or loginSince the Tales characters aren't technically adults but not technically babies it would have been interesting to see the girls done in the Sweetheart Sisters poses and maybe have the boys done in the Party Time pose or else a whole new "teen boy" pose to go along with the Sweetheart sisters.

The Tales ponies are meant to be 10 years old...which bothers me in a lot of ways given that they act older than ten years old quite often.Unless it's horse years.I actually think they all should have been made at Flutter Pony size. But anyway. If we're talking about any pose possible, I'd like them to have boy poses But I don't mind the Shady pose being used for guys. That seems to work. I can't see the Taffy pose for a guy though. I dunno about the rearing one, it might work. I think Ace for Shady's pose because it looks about to kick a football...The UK pony comics did occasionally produce some interesting recolourings of a lot of ponies over the years. In production - I think that there's a lot of questions around the whole Tales line. But MLP was not on the way out in 1993, when the toys came out here. It was not on the way out in 1992, either. I wonder if it was really on the way out in 1994 because of the invention of a few new poses in this line. That doesn't sound like a line about to end. But I know that with Jem the whole series ended abruptly and a lot of planned toys for the 1988 year stopped dead in production or before. I think about a thousand Rockin Romance Jems got out and then prototypes exist of many other characters but they didn't get into production. It's more than possible that could have happened...I don't actually think it did, though.I think Ace, Lancer and Teddy were created characters to bolster the show. I don't think they were ever going to be produced. I think this was Hasbro's start into a core seven, albeit tentatively. 1994 had no boy ponies, no schoolhouse, and postdated the comic so none of them appeared. It makes it hard to know whether there was a deviation from toy line and story :/ A lot of the line from 1993 did appear in the comics.Schoolhouse was designed for the schooltime and playschool baby ponies. It has accessories which are clearly for both adult and baby size ponies, and this makes the most sense as it is a very much earlier playset. MLP Tales just coopted it but the ponies themselves are too large to use some of the functions they are shown using in the cartoon - the slide is for baby ponies, so it isn't for them. And I think it was a lot more likely that there would be Lady Lessons made for the school, not Miss Hackney. She didn't happen, for whatever reason, but I strongly suspect she was projected rather than Miss Hackney. The glasses in the schoolhouse seem to be her lasting legacy as she wore them in the comics.Names of places or properties or such in the comics mean little. There are a lot of those in the comic which never got made or even thought of. I think MLP Tales was what it was, an introduction to characters which were going to spearhead the future of MLP and then everything changed and they didn't do that. But I don't think they were going to make the support characters. I think they were always going to be animated only.
You joke about it, but at least one of the US pony G1 cassettes says that Megan is older than everyone present, including mother Sundance, although Baby Sundance is there. So that must be horse years, right?

So that must be horse years, right? Well I was serious. Since horses live up to 30 years if well cared for. But Hasbro doesn't seem to know much about horses and magical, talking rainbow ones probably age differently.
