G4 Spike into G1 Fiery? Take or Leave Head Frills?

I got Spike and have decided to customize him into G1 Fiery. I'm wondering if I should take off the head frills or leave them?

What do you guys think?

If I were you I wold remove the head frills, to stay closer to the original desing.
If you don't want to, you can always make them part of your take on firey. It's all up to you
