Should I shave and rehair these two?
« on: May 06, 2018, 10:55:08 AM »
I wanted to start my own barbie collection even though I know very little about barbie, but I'm willing to learn.
I bought a bunch of baity looking barbies while thrifting a few days ago to start off my collection and never realised how horrible these two's hair was. One's got hair so frizzed, it's basically like a sponge and the pick I use to brush doll hair won't go though. The other is overly greasy, and dropped a lot of hair when I tried to carefully brush it out.
Spoiler
Here's the one with sponge-like hair. Yes I'm aware of the fact her arm has been chewed.

Me trying to part some hair with my fingers

And the extremely tangled hair one. I affectionately refer to this one as "Spagehtti-On-A-Fork" because turning her hair the right way looks just like it.

Should I shave their heads and try to rehair them myself (Maybe with yarn?)?

Those are not Barbies, they are both Disney Rapunzel dolls. The first one is a Hasbro release from after 2015, when the rights switched over from Mattel to Hasbro and the second one is an older Mattel one.

Ah, okay, thank you, good to know. I know very little about barbies, and....admittedly I haven't seen Tangled, either. Been meaning to, but never got around to it. So they weren't recogniseable as Rapunzel to me at the time.

Congrats on your pretty projects! I've always thought Disney dolls had nice sculpts. Their dolls look gentle; very appropriate for Princesses!!

I think these two would make fine bait dolls! If you do decide to give them some new life we'd love to see pictures! Good luck!! 💕
