repairing broken flutter wings
« on: May 04, 2018, 12:39:34 PM »
I have got my first flutter pony with her original wings, albeit they are broken. I'm pretty sure that the wings are the originals for this particular Rosedust as the tabs were still in the slots and the edges where they have broken match up with jagged edges on the right wings.

How do I go about repairing them without messing them up completely?
One idea I had was to to make a separate clip/ tab in clear plastic folded over so that it acts like a clothes peg rather than mess them up with a bad glue job (I'll keep the original tabs - just not on the pony !). Would this warp the wings, anyone done it, etc etc?

Thankies

it sounds like what i have done, all my flutter's have original wing and pretty much all of them have had to be repaired. i used pony packaging, that thin clear plastic cut to length then folded to make a tab. the only thing I am absolutely terrible with super glue and get it everywhere. my hubby is a pro at gluing and everything fiddly  so i should get him into doing it  i will try and get some photos up of how iv repaired mine.
some of mine were so badly broken that I'v had to make the clear plastic tab quite large to reach the broken/snapped of part.

here the pics, sorry it took so long.
left hand side, failed super glue and what it does to fluttery wings if it spread to far
right hand side is the replacement of a missing tab which had broken of quite a bit of it.
and below a better pic of the reinforcement tab :)

Thank you so much for the pictures.

Yes, that was the sort of thing that I was thinking about.
Actually I haven't glued the tabs at all - they are just folded over and work like a clothes peg. Admittedly the pony is on display in a cabinet, I doubt if she'd take much handling - but she's still a Flutter with wings!!!!
