I'm sure this seller is planning to do the same. It's sad that there's really nothing I can do about it either other than give them negative feedback.

The seller only has one seller feedback and it was glowingly positive. But unless the ponies come by tomorrow (that's one week since it was first supposed to arrive according to eBay and a week and a half since I paid) I'm going to open a case. It looks like there's supposed to be a package arriving from Pitney Bowes today, but my husband orders a lot of stuff, so it could be for him.

Well the package yesterday wan't the lot. I opened a request asking the seller to ship out the ponies. Fingers crossed. I doubt they'll respond since I have gotten zero communication from them so far.

I hope you get your lot, and I think you're doing the right thing. The seller is past the arrival date and has failed to respond to 2 messages. For what it's worth, I would have proceeded the same way. It seems like you may have a flaky seller.

OK, no response from the seller (I didn't figure I'd get one). I got an email from eBay saying that I could go to the next step, so I asked them to step in now.

*Ebay just closed it out and negative feedback was left.

It's really sad. I'd feel bad if they were in the hospital or something or something happened that they couldn't respond for the more that two weeks that I dealt with it. But I figure they thought that the ponies were worth more than I paid for them. They probably could get a little more for them with better photos but not a lot since they are all commons.

that's miserable

Sadly these sellers seem to be everywhere, and the idea of a deal being just that, a deal, seems to have gone completely AWOL.

Yesterday I'd just concluded what I thought was a buy-it-now deal, paid up, only to have my money returned a couple of hours later. My suspicion is that the seller suddenly thought they could get more money - well why agree a deal then?

Hey-ho - Karma has a way of biting back though.........

Wow, that's terrible! You came through on your side. I guess someone may have contacted the seller and made an offer. Figures, doesn't it? Where are the people who care about their customers? If eBay wouldn't have changed their feedback system, I think we would still have more honest sellers and buyers.

at least there was no hanging about with 'will they/won't they' - and I may be a silly old optimist here, but maybe, just maybe, there's an extra special item out there that Fate wants to put my way :)

The old saying about 'no good comes from tainted money' comes to mind, and it ain't my money that's 'tainted'......

I'm glad it's resolved but sorry that you didn't get your ponies end the end

I think I'd keep an eye on that seller to see if they relist them in the near future. If by any chance something had happened and the seller was in hospital/sick /etc  they may possibly contact you - I had that happen in the past.

If the seller relists the lot soon and for a higher price and without contacting you then please let us know their ebay ID   (  I don't think it's mentioned already in this post, but if it is then sorries! it's been a difficult day  )

The seller's name is lionheartimages. I haven't checked yet to see whether they've relisted the ponies, but I think I will now. I've blocked them because I had a bad dealing before with another seller in the past who harassed me after I contacted them when their item wasn't as described.

I agree. I wish they'd go back to the meaningful feedback whereby if you got a negative it stayed with you forever.

I hate that this is increasingly the case. Ebay didn't used to have a cancel auction option that was so easy to access. Now it's like sellers can hold their buyers to ransom or just betray the trust of the transaction completely. I get that it isn't fair that sellers can't leave negative feedback, that needs to be fixed as well. But this again smacks of the commercialisation of Ebay.

It's so hard to get a deal any more. MIND YOU it is not always JUST the seller who is at fault. There are still people who will contact an ebay seller to make a private offer. That's always happened and sadly, it still does. It's one thing if it's a lot with a BIN and you make an offer (there's a system for that, after all). But when it's a bid on or won lot it's shameful. Sadly Ebay do very little about it except ensure a buyer gets a refund. They have no understanding that things are not all made better by getting your money back.

Hmmmm....you just got me thinking....

Do you think THAT maybe is what my seller did? After my auction ended, perhaps someone who missed the auction made a private offer and the seller accepted? Or maybe even during the auction that happened and the seller didn't cancel the auction just to see if it went any higher?

More than possible. Unfortunately ethics are a dead art in ebay transactioning these days. More likely the former - someone missing the end of the auction but making a private offer to the seller.

If so, it sucks.

Such people are disgusting. Both those making the offer and those agreeing it when they have a binding bid contract to fulfil.
