Toy ID
« on: April 10, 2018, 02:35:50 AM »
Hi everyone! I know there's a whole lot of toy knowledge around here, so hopefully you lovely people can help me identify a few toys.

First up, I found these two in a charity shop recently. I think they're from the modern incarnation of Puppy/Kitty/Bunny/Etc in my Pocket, but I haven't been able to find out for sure. So, are they In My Pocket critters, and if so, what are their names? Are they just fakies or knock-offs? Are they something else entirely?

IDENTIFIED! - Magiki Bunny Matilda & Kinder Surprise Natoon

Next, this little dog. He's about the size of a Sylvanian Families baby, made of squishy vinyl and flocked. His eye is made of felt-type stuff. I've had him since 2004 (charity shop find) but I think he's quite a bit older than that. I'd love to know who/what he is. NB the ribbon isn't original :)

IDENTIFIED! - Sad Sam from the 1980s

This tiny tiny frog! I found it in a box of childhood toys but have no recollection of where it came from. It's not Littlest Pet Shop and doesn't seem to be anything to do with Puppy In My Pocket. Pictured with Disney Little Kingdom Tiana for scale, and also because they make a cute couple :)

Finally, I've had these rabbits since I was about three (that would be around 1996), I remember they came in a set with a hutch to live in but I don't remember what the playset was called or which toy-line it belonged to. It's a long shot, because I think they were cheap pound-shop type toys, but I thought someone might recognise them.

I can help with The first picture  ^.^
The pink bunny is a magiki bunny - little blind bags (they’re making ponies right now I think?) her name is Matilda, she’s the one I got from mine!
The orange cat looks like she’s a kinder toy, but I could be wrong.

My mum said that the dog resembles sad Sam- there was a grey one called honey, but I have no clue if they are in fact related. I’ll have a look around for you :)

Hope this is a bit of help for you  :)

That dog is called sad sam, I had a plush for them last year that I handed out his girl counterpart is honey.  How do you like that they are celebrating 35 years, and I guess are now owned by a diffident company. Applause was the ones who first had them.

I think someone may have cut that frog off her lilypad: http://vintagelpscollector.com/Collections/splashtimepets.htm#frogs

Do you have any photos of the bottom of him?

Hmm, had a look at my frog's feet and they are the same green as the rest of the frog and don't particularly look like they've been cut from anything. She also doesn't have a silver pawprint on her neck, which is why I originally thought she couldn't be LPS. But now I'm wondering if some intrepid person cut her off the lilypad and then repainted her.

Here's underneath, for what it's worth: https://imgur.com/a/Rg4IXNG

I'm pretty sure its from this set. These guys didn't have the pawprints and it looks like one of the ones on the floats- but who knows :D

The LPS frogs do not have a paw print, and actually can be removed form the lilly pad they in on it due to a peg, on the lillypad. they have a empty slot on the underside.

The colouring of the bunnies is the same colours as Takara's Furry Families bunny set (tiny bunny figures probably about the same scale that came with a little house to live in), but those bunnies are anthropomorphic! But maybe it could be something else put out by Takara or a knock-off of their toys? I'm not sure how common those specific colours were for 90s toys.

For your bunnies I would probably check here to see if any of these LPS fakies ring a bell.

http://littlestpetshop.50webs.com/imposters.htm

I don't see the bunnies on here, but you might recognize something and have a lead on IDing them.

Wow, I now have lots of interesting things to look up about!

Nonnavlis, I'm going to have to look up about Takara's Furry Families. Even if they're not what I'm looking for, they sound adorable!

Duenia, that page is going in my favourites! I had several of those toys when I was little, and even though I don't see anything reminiscent of my bunnies, I'm definitely keeping hold of it for future toy ID purposes!

Seems like my little froggy is LPS then. I didn't realise they made figures without paw-prints; I've learnt something new!

Enjoy some Furry Family spam lol, I love them! I don't have photos of the Japanese variants, but they have more earth tones.

Shaz: I keep that page in my favorites as well because of it XD I had the Jasman pets and the Itzy Bitzy Pals (well and the Lion King ones but I have all the info I need about those).

shelvesofwhimsy: OMG I am saving that album. I think I already see some sets in there I wasn't aware existed! I used to love Furry Families lol.
