Memory issues when it comes to ponies?
« on: April 07, 2018, 07:44:48 AM »
Many of us have childhood ponies, many of us have tragic losses to those ponies, or as a kid you remember things differently. In short do you remember things about ponies that's you are not seeing today?

1. I could have sworn my childhood Flutter Pony Lily was more purple. I keep coming across Lily has more of a pink/red purple body.  But I remember her with a more cool/blue purple body an hair.

2. I totally remember Parasol having more of a tan body, but I re found her with a pink body?!

3. I even remember there was a barbie that ate ponies and turned them into baby ponies with long hair....ok that was a fib told by a child hood friend, but that did not stop my childhood self from searching the barbie isle for that particular toy.

4. I never saw G4 tempest except online from over seas. I just assumed it was from a China Company not Hasbro, in short I would never own a brushable tempest as she doesn't exist....i found her at Target yesterday!

Any previous notions that you remember, but now are different?

I forgot Skyskimmer's name for awhile so I called her Fluttershy, but idk when I started doily that, if it was after the g3 or g4 Fluttershy.

I thought Windy was white and that mine were slightly grey/yellow from age, and I thought Lofty was basically white as well. They aren't that far off, but it made me not want Lofty anymore.

In my memories, my ponies looked a whole lot cleaner to me.
And then, a decade later, I look at them and oh dangit, what did I do to them when I was little ? O_O

Fortunately, they are all fine and clean now. (Except for Bowtie, since I did a picture guide on imgur about Peachy, I want to make a video restoration of Bowtie, but since I don't have a camera, she's just sitting isolated and rusty on a far corner of my desk... I am a terrible pony owner.)

Fun fact for your mood : I only discovered Morning Glory had a cheek mark when I cleaned her back in october 2017. For all my childhood, it was so dirty, I never noticed it.

I used to cut out the ponies on the backcards and play with them.  I had Windy as a child, but not Parasol. However, I played with those cardboard cut-outs all the time.  In my memory, Parasol was white.  So imagine my surprise when i started collecting as an adult and learned my memory was wrong and Parasol was pink!!!

I don't remember my childhood Rosedust having pink hair. I always thought Racer was a fakie because he was so different than the rest of my ponies as a kid

I'm pretty sure I had a Dance 'n Prance Ponies because I was bothered by the button (thinked it was out of realism, ah ah ) but I just cannot remember wich.
Pretty sure he was blue/green and pink. Problem, there's two and I cannot remember if it was the pony or the button who was pink...

I don't think I ever remembered a pony from my childhood wrong, but I do occasionally forget the names of some of my ponies. Only when my niece asks for their names, though  -_-

My girlfriend says that as a child she thought all the ponies in the UK Factfile existed and were available in Britain: from Ribbon, Lofty and Paradise to the strange purple Minty (she was convinced she had correctly 'identified' a second-hand Magic Message Windy as Minty). Much disappointment when we got online and found that ponies varied by country.

I just never knew there were so many different My Little Ponies!

I thought Mimic had a 'fading' pink part in her hair (although I'm still not sure about that)...

Yes she does have a stripe of fading pink. ;) (the second one, to be exact)  http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/G1_Hair_Colors#Fading_Pink_Stripe

My memory
I only remember having BBE Gusty, Dancing Butterflies, and Cranberry Muffins as a kid, plus some fakies and a few G2s
Last year I learned I had one other G1 pony who was in much better shape than the others because apparently I didn't play with her much!
My DeviantArt, why not drop by and take a look!
