The mystery of this weird tail

IIRC they have a larger than normal hole (with the hard plastic thing around it, like the pink one on the picture above), as a side effect of their tail-twirl mechanism.

Has anyone ever opened one up for a custom?  Now I'm curious about their inner workings.

It looks like the plastic comes after. I can't see a clamp though... I don't think it's a DnP. Could it be a Drink n Wet? I looks but there are no yellow tails.

So: let's make the muddy waters murkier still. I remembered that Tutti Frutti (European version) came with an odd looking tail and went to hunt up the image:

Oof. Can you tell if her hair comes out of just the bottom space or does it come out of two with the top folded over? It looks like it's wrapped with paper or tape? Thanks for the pic!

Ok, so I have some serious Pony Regret here. Turns out I 'repaired' that tail with zip ties. 

Big lesson learnt there... it was 2 years ago now and I know I did it because her tail has been trimmed and by using the zip ties it gave her a bit of additional length. There was no plastic inside the crimp, but for the life of me I cannot now recall whether that dratted crimp went over just half of the tail or the whole thing. I am highly annoyed with myself: sorry!

It's okay, don't apologize! It's great that we even have at least one picture And we all have pony regrets. I bet she looks great with a bit more length now though

I can see some hair going over the clamp but under the brown paper or tape thing, so my guess is that this is a real tail that got wrapped with something. Thanks again
