The mystery of this weird tail

Thanks everyone! I have been doing some research now that I know where to start, and I have found some possible matches. It could be Little Sweets in the Little Pretty line or SunnySoft from the Lady Lovelylocks line. I'm leaning more towards Sunnysoft because Hasbro? What do you guys think? If only I could confirm what the tail clamps look like for them both... Thanks for the suggestions guys

Hmm, it looks very like the little pretty kitties yellow tail, do they have rooted or pony style tails? If they are Mlp style, I’d say it was from her. A fashion star filly also popped up on eBay today, with yellow curly hair, could it possibly be her tail?

Edit: the little pretties and CurlyKittens seem to have rooted tails! Ack this is such a mystery! Looking at the FSF in better light (her name is Ariel) her hair looks more blonde than yellow to me. I’ll keep searching, I hope you can get an answer soon!

What about the C.P.K. pony tails?  You know those plastic cabage patch kid ponies? They had the same kind of hair as MLP right?

Ooh, that may be it! I quickly looked on ebay and they seem to have the plug tails like MLP and there's one with yellow hair (not sure it's the same yellow though)

I doubt it would be Goldilocks or a flutter pony, she should have a regular MLP tail. Probably not CPK ponies either, they have yarn hair I think? And they are big! And it does seem that Curly Kittens and Little Pretties both have rooted tails, whoops! I was also thinking that it could have been a pixie tail from Lady Lovelylocks that was pulled out, but I don't think so. This is turning out to be quite the mystery! Dang!

Some of the cpk ponies have nylon hair, but the type is different and the tails are way longer that this.

Well it doesn't belong to a Flutter pony: they have tails made just the same as other my little ponies do. What about a pony made in another country? As the clamp is different? I don't suppose you are able to contact the seller and ask them? That might be the easiest option

Yeah, it isn't a flutter pony. I was thinking about it being a nirvana tail... I doubt the seller would know though, she sold me a bit of her childhood collection but she said she thrifted things as well. There aren't any nirvana things in there. Does anyone know what nirvana tails look like?

Well, she only told me about one nirvana item she has: a South African Show Stable

It depends on which country the pony was made as they are all different. This doesn't looks like any nirvana tail that I have seen so far. That doesn't rule it out being nirvana, but it is certainly not a tail clamp I am familiar with.

Well, "nirvana" isn't really anything but a made-up fan term for regional variants.  Ponies that were made in places other than Hong Kong / China have a wide variety of differences, depending on the country.

If I had to guess, my guess would be that it's Tap Dancer's tail. It would make sense that they'd wrap the base of the tail up in this plastic wrap, in order to be able to insert it easily into the plastic tube at the base of a DnP's tail.   It's also a shorter than usual tail, and the Dance 'n Prance's had short tails (so they wouldn't get tangled with their legs.)

Edit:  You can see similar plastic wrap on Argentina Songster.  My guess is that 'regular' versions had this same wrap, and it's just harder to see because they also have the plastic tube part.

Yeah, I know there are lots of variants in nirvana tails because nirvana covers a broad range of places. I was asking if it looks like any nirvana tail anyone's seen

Hmm, it could be a DNP tail. I would just wonder how big their tail holes are? The clamp is pretty big.

IIRC they have a larger than normal hole (with the hard plastic thing around it, like the pink one on the picture above), as a side effect of their tail-twirl mechanism.

Has anyone ever opened one up for a custom?  Now I'm curious about their inner workings.
