Boy, oh boy (G4 Hair Poll)

I like the "normal" rooted, but I also like the way the mohawk looks . . . just don't like it being on every boy.

The troll hair on the other hand I don't like at all.

I wouldn't mind the mohawks if they were only present on ponies with that hairstyle in canon, like Tempest and Soarin'! But I don't like that EVERY boy pony (except Sandbar now?) has them! Big Mac and Shining Armor both have longer hairstyles in the show, and I think their toys would look better if they reflected that. Also, it makes me feel like Hasbro is trying too hard to make clear that "these are BOY ponies! Look, they have short hair!" :-P

I think the problem with Big Mac and Soarin is their canon hairstyle is impossible to achieve without some kind of product to hold it in place. Rooted hair naturally sticks up unless it has enough weight to hold it down. The only 2 options are either a Mohawk or long hair like the girls. Since accurate is impossible I guess they go with the one that reads more as "boy".

I personally don't care as long as it's rooted and not troll hair. Troll hair only belongs on Trolls and Zelfs.

Can't require that much money. I have plenty of model horses who have manes that don't drag on the floor. They could easily do it in G1 fashion. Long enough to brush, short enough to not get tangled with every pony on the shelf.

Interestingly, I picked up Soarin today, and in the little leaflet that comes with him, Big Mac has long hair! I assume it's an unused prototype, but still thought it was funny.

Sandbar's hair is rooted normally.  I mean, he has bangs so that's a little unusual.  But also nothing new . . . The entire original set of G4s had bangs.  (And I actually like them better like that because otherwise I get overwhelmed by their HUGE foreheads, lol.) I imagine he will be styled a bit in the packaging, but gel or whatnot can be washed out.  Way easier to "fix" than a head full of troll hair like the first version of Shining Armor, poor guy.
