I find it very odd that she has a normal name, unlike nearly every other pony. It's like they couldn't think up a cutesy name for her, so they just decided to name her after somebody's kid.

It's a gimmick of the set. For some reason, Billie, Susie and Katie seemed appropriate names. It's a bit twitchy for me too, to be honest, but anyway >< Let's not forget that the US uses Princess Tiffany as a name, and while Tiffany does mean white, that's also a human name.

Then again, technically so are Pearl and Ruby, also Amber. And Primrose.

You could split hairs like this for ages I guess. Where does the human end and the pony begin? I guess it's fine.

Better than Tinkatinkatoo anyway ;)

I love her colouring and symbol and the fact that she has a pet. Not mad about the name, but as Taffeta said it isn't the worst out there (looking at you Tootie Tails - sorry and all that).

To me Susie is worse than Tink-a-Tink-a-Too and Tootie Tails, because those are dumb names but at least they're trying to be something and aren't just names picked from a baby book.

I think they should have called her Baby Scout.  It still has the alliteration with Spot, and it suggests a baby pony who likes to explore with her puppy pal and doesn't mind getting a little muddy.

I would love to know what Tinkatinkatoo is trying to be xD. And I don't WANT to really ask what Tootie Tails is, aside from a name from a Fairy Tail O.O.

I think that it's too blurry a line. I don't like the human names but then again, I sort of understand it. These are Best Friends babies, and I wonder whether that's part of the point. A kid in the playground won't have a friend called Tinkatinkatoo (probably, we can only hope!) but I definitely had friends called Katie as a child. Perhaps that's why human names? I don't know.

But I'll say it again - Pearl, Ruby, Tiffany, Primrose are also all human names which you can find in baby books. So is Fifi, though I admit that sounds a lot more like a French cartoon hairdresser. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang uses Truly as a name and I don't think it's an accident that the SS set has Truly AND Scrumptious. In Greece, too, many of the ponies have human names. In Italy, it's also not uncommon. I have a couple of ads which give human names to many of the early ponies. Even back in English, we have Flutter Pony Lily, and several birthflower ponies with human names (Rose, Poppy, etc). Plus in G2 there's Ivy and Crystal, just off the top of my head.

Overall point - the human names are stupid, but it's wrong to single them out as bad given the large number of other potentiall human names that ponyland puts forward.

We also live in a world where a growing number of parents are naming their kids other things, such as names of countries, cities, etc. So what is a human name and what isn't is really a grey area nowadays.

Tinkatinkatoo's name is meant to reference her tinkering (according to multiple G3 sources she is the handiman of the G3s, with a workshop where she invents things) and also imitates the sound of a hammer lightly hitting a piece of metal (tink, tink, tink.)   That is what I meant by "they tried."

I don't think anyone is arguing that there weren't some stinkers amidst the other names too.  (Pillow Talk, lol.)  I'm not saying the names should universally be reviled;  merely that I personally find them to be the most jarring and cringey names.  Obviously different people have different tastes, or we wouldn't have ended up with Italian ponies named things like "Ben" and "David."

Basically, the moral of the story is...MLP often have stupid names :)

I would say Pillow Talk, Pink Dreams and baby Nightcap in the same set is cause for serious concern actually ;) Not to mention Kiss & Tell. I mean what does that tell kids, morally speaking?!

I have her and the dog but no clue where she is when I looked for my G1s last years.
It frustrats me that I somehow placed her in another toybox which is unlike me, just hope is in the attic somewhere. Maybe among my two trash bags filled with plushies.
I always called her the Swedish pony(try and guess)

I'm guessing the reason has to do with this...
