Very pretty!  I would have lamented its wedding theme as a child though...

Just saw this on ghost of the doll, sadly it never made it.

Wasn't there a wedding prototype, not sure if it's the same one, sold recently on eBay?

So am I wrong, or would the purple and blue petite have been the one and only official male pegasus in G1?  :P

I wonder who bought it off eBay .  . . $450 seems like a steal considering how well-preserved it is, with the faux box and everything.

Aww, that's a really cute playset! It looks like it would've been a lot of fun to play with - anything architectural always fired up my imagination as a kid. It would've been really nice as a piece in a collection as well.

Unproduced toys in general just make me sad. There's often great characters or just really neat ideas that unfortunately never make it past a few rare prototypes that are out of most people's budget.

This is true. Though they're also interesting because they show what could have been.

Mind you, I am still hating Hasbro for not producing Paradise, so I guess I can't really be that objective :/

It's fun to see the thought processes though and the stages in creating the ponies we did get, pose changes, hair changes, etc.

Nice find! What a cute little set! Even better that someone has a sample of it in their collection. Hope they can share more photos, I'd like to see what the blue pegasus's symbol is (if they have one).

I love when we get to see stuff like this! It adds a human element to it when you see how the designers came up with various ideas, and how they decided which would be best for production. What makes me really sad is that there must be so many scrapped design ideas and prototypes that we'll never get to see at all.

Never seen this one! When I was a kid I used to wish and wish for the Petite snow cone/popcorn (I think? Definitely snow cone) set that was shown in all the pamphlets. I think it took me many years to realise it was never made.

Is sweet delight cottage a petite pony set? The pony that’s with it always looked bigger to me, kind of like the merry go round game ponies.

The wedding set is amazing!

It's gorgeous! I'd love to know how the seller got their hands on the prototype.

I know there was a G3 playset that was never released but I can't find anything online about it. I swear I'm not crazy though. It was a magic oven that came with Sweetie Belle. I remember seeing it in a pamphlet and wanting it only for it to never be released.

The chairs out front look like the same model as the Paradise Estate ones, so it'd be a regular pony playset based on that scale.

I always felt like the sweet ice delight cottage didn't look very pony somehow. I remember it was still strongly believed to be a thing back in the nineties when I came online, because it's on one of the inserts.

That along with the Flutter Pony house seem to have fallen by the wayside. I wonder if there's a committee who reviews all these prototypes and gauges the interest from distributors and then goes, nup. Not worth it.

Still convinced poor PE sales in the US are the main reason UK Hasbro didn't push ahead with Paradise. Seems to me like the PE we got here were all in US boxes and so basically were leftover US ones that didn't sell. Which meant no point manufacturing Paradise. US didn't need her, they had a SS one. So we missed out.

Ultimately it's all about what will sell, the production cost, price point and whether there's a market.
