Taffeta, you write really long posts...

You are both super lucky to own 'one off' propotypes/variant ponies, I find them really interesting! I think I saw a variant pony pop up on a lot on eBay a few weeks ago - a yellow pegasus in bouncy pose with fading pink hair. No symbol. I missed out on the lot but I've been trying to find out if that variant/prototype has been seen before. No joy so far!
Sounds like Bobbie he seems quite common in the Uk I’ve had two or three, and I have seen a lot of others. It’s actually tall tales without the spinning tail.

The comments above are too long winded for me...
I wonder if any more prototypes will be found now that would be interesting...

That was indeed Bobbie, she is a Happy Tails variant :) I was watching her on eBay ;)

There are quite a few Bobbies in the community and quite a few variants of her as well (blue hair, pink hair, no hair, symbols and no symbols)

That’s it!! Thanks Nappercasper. It’s been driving me nuts! I had a vague recollection of seeing something like it before but I couldn’t find any info on a yellow pony that fit...I had a feeling it had something to do with the Princess Ponies too but all I could think of was that scary purple Tootsie with the Mis-matched head :D

Edit: I wonder who won her PKW. I was tempted to bid but I wanted to find out what it was first. Wish I had remembered about the Bobbie thing. I can’t believe they got away with selling her with no symbol in the Princess packaging!

I didn't win her, but I was watching her.

I'm reposting the Nirvana Spotlights and there is one on the Happy Tails variants you might be interested in reading :)

We'd better get back on topic as I don't want to try splitting a topic again :scared:

I am mildly amused that you split the Rusty post because it went OT towards Sundance and now Sundance is going off towards Bobbie xD.

If people don't like my post lengths, they don't have to read them. It's a free world.

Going back to Sundance,  I heard back from the person I know who collects magazines and stuff. He's going to look through all his material this weekend to see if we can track down the source of that image.

I guess Sundance wants to keep her secrets ^.^

I hope your friend can offer some insight into the catalogue image.

I find that catalogue image so tantalising.

No luck on tracking down the catalogue image in any of the catalogues so far. It's pretty much ruled out that this is a UK catalogue image as this guy has a ton of catalogues.

I know PKW has seen the same 1984 advert I found from LookIn which suggests that the pictures were taken in that time frame...so prior to "Inception" (I love that term!) at Hasbro UK.

It was a long shot but I did look up the various stable boxes from different places but none of them show Sundance.

The 1983 insert for the US is sketched from a different photograph, and the UK insert for 1984 doesn't feature a picture of the Show Stable.

The Hasbro catalogue image for the Show Stable I have found thus far also doesn't feature Sundance, but does feature the Collector Ponies.

Still looking.

Ember, did your friend have any clue or hint about where the image originated when she found it? I realise it was on an unrelated site and non-pony stuff isn't always as detailed, but I am guessing if it was on a doll site it must have been part of a bigger spread originally and someone in her community must know where it comes from. Anything you can do at your end to investigate?
