She's smaller and has thinner plastic than the original, as well as having tinsel and a 'borrowed' symbol.

I've never used Taobao. I used your key search code and see so many listings for what appear to be the same set of ponies (lonies) for different prices. I just wanted the white one but it looks complicated and my phone won't load a translation.

Taobao can be very confusing!  It's essentially like eBay, so each lot at a different price is from a different seller.  Most of them are selling the entire set (either the 8 small Lony sets or the 4 larger sets.)  But if you see someone selling them for 10 yuan, I believe that person is selling the larger sets individually.  (10 yuan is like $1.50 USD.)

I use BaseTao (a broker) to actually buy things from Taobao because a lot of sellers won't ship overseas.  So everything gets sent to the brokers, who then send it to me.

Google says 10 yen is about $1.57 USD. Is shipping often free if it's from China? Super Grape is pretty cool. Blind bag ponies can be cool, I just don't like paying that much for a pony I may or may not want.

Yeah, you would have to pay shipping.

Another possibility would be to buy them off Aliexpress.com . Aliexpress is in English and most sellers will ship to the US.

This seller is selling all eight of the small sets, including Sugar Grape, for $5.78 + 2.35 shipping to the US. 

The four deluxe sets (like the abandoned doorway etc) have the same ponies as the small sets.  So if you are primarily interested in the pony pieces, you can get all of them by getting the small sets.

See how the eyepaint just is stamped right on top of the eyes?  That are totally different shapes?  *snerk* 

I got them in a random giant bag of fakies at a thrift store.  I have no idea where to find more, but I would happily add them to my fakie crew!

I'm most amused by the effect of G4-style eyes on a G1-style head and body (the blue one) and on a G3-style head on a G1-style(?) body (the orange one)
