Customizing a Dream Beauty
« on: January 24, 2018, 03:28:53 PM »
I'm considering customizing a Dream Beauty. This poor girl is...wrecked. Chipped, stained, chewed,  nightmare hair, the works. Honestly, most people would have tossed her. I'm going to have to fill in chew marks with putty.
Has anyone customized one before? Since they're a different kind of plastic than other MLPs, is spraypaint ok to use?

I've never tried working with one, but I imagine tutorials for Breyers would be more helpful than the usual MLP customization tips?  Similar hard plastic.

Wingsofmasquerade's tutorial on MLPPreservation is really good - it'll show you the inner workings and how to get your girl apart.

They’re really hard to come by (and usually expensive) so I think a restoration might be in order instead, however I also recommend the tutorial from the MLPPP! And spray paint would be fine though most people use acrylics. In any case keep me posted BC Dream Beauties are my fave!!

I would never consider baiting out something that was salvageable. She has had a haircut,  and at some point been a dogs chew toy. There are missing bits with a hole in the neck, and the plastic thingie that holds the mane in place was completely chewed off to the hairline. Huge orange stains top it off. I can fix most of the damage and make her look good with a coat of paint ,  but there is no way that she can be properly restored.

If restoration means basically making a custom pony anyway, you might as well make a custom pony.

^This, pretty much.
I can't imagine that there are too many people out there that would want a Dream Beauty in that condition for their collection permanently.
