I'm shocked my state's capitol one is closing first before my hometown trainer store is! I really need to spend my $10 rewards asap

Seems a handful local to me are closing. Sad to see them go but at the same time I haven't really enjoyed TRU for some time. The last few I have been to were not in great shape. Thank goodness for online shopping!

Mine is closing, and its the only one near me as well.. but I'm not too chuffed to be honest.. I usually only shop at TRU for sales or if I'm desperate.. I was never really a big fan of their price markups. Ill be stopping in to see what the closing sales are like and if I can snag anything.

The only one here is closing. That was the last remaining toy store around. K*B toys went out like 20 years ago
To be honest, I seldom went in there, even though I work across the street

Not sure if this is true but I heard they are planning on closing 200 more stores on Good Morning America this week.

We have three here in the Indianapolis area, and I was sure the one nearest to me, the one I used to work at, would be the one to close. Looks like the opposite is surprisingly true; ours will stay open but the other two will close. Strange because the others are closer to malls and always seemed busier, and the area where ours is, is kind of dying out. But, good news for me! I will have to check the other stores soon for sales.

Yes I heard this too! Once we have a list I'll add it to the first post.

This seems to be affecting the UK, too.

I have seen reports that "something financial" needs to be "sorted" by this very weekend otherwise stores will be closing on Tuesday

We had a store local to us that has been there for many years - 30 years? Anyway, they closed it late last year (land lease was over and the local council have plans for new home building on the site) and opened a brand new one in another location. I feel sorry for the staff, firstly having to travel across town to work at their new location and now facing redundancy. I only just visited them last week to get some Lego for a child's birthday gift.  :(

I went into the BRU that is closing near me. The sign outside says 40% off in HUGE letters, but when you get closer it says 'up to' in ant print. So I walked through the store and everything is 20% off. If you were serious about moving this stuff you should really give people a better discount. I walked right out. 20% is barely worth anything, especially when their mark up on some items is ridiculous. So basically they have learned nothing from this restructuring - LOL! Entities who claim bankruptcy rarely do.

The prices some stores hold are ridiculous. They are still trying to stay afloat, though, so I can see why they would be hesitant to lower their prices. If they don't sell a lot at this location, I think they would just ship it to more locations for people who would be willing to pay the higher prices. Once they say they're going out of business, THEN the real liquidation sales begin and we get to lap it all up.
I don't see any lists being released, but there was something neat to note in a USA TODAY article:
"Industry analysts who attended Toy Fair said they saw manufacturer support for Toys R Us shift during the four days of the fair, with vendors signaling that they are preparing for life after Toys R Us."
It sounds like it's all getting worse for TRU from here. Of course, they could always try to survive online, but with all the competition it's going to be tough for them to. They're going to have to consider cutting down on their big-box stores and focus on smaller stations and increase their focus on technology.
