Toys R Us closures incoming

I went on Tuesday before the vultures started circling. It was heart breaking I have talked to some of the employees for over a decade now and they are sad and angry and have every right to be.

My store didn't have any liquidation sales. The cashier told me to call them and do not listen to the news to find out the exact dates.

My boyfriend and I went there today, and there weren't any sales. It was quite busy, and there were a lot of aimless adults (like us, lol). I wanted to buy something to commemorate my last time at Toys R Us, and saw this little guy so I picked him up. I replaced a lot of his stuffing with a beanbag filled with polyfil beads, so he's more floppy.

Edit: Just read that the company's 94 year old founder, Charles Lazarus, has passed away today. I imagine the liquidation of his company was too much for him to take

Yes, apparently the reports of liquidations beginning today were false. I've heard it's either been "delayed" or simply "fake" so I really don't know.

Just hoping I'll get a chance to run to my nearest one while I can!

Anyone who's been to a store with closing sales, have they kept their Nerf guns and has them on sale?

I think the sale might have been delayed due to the sudden death of the founder of Toys R Us today.

I went last night and saw signs up for the liquidation sale postponed til today. I'm not going to battle the crowds for it, if they are still open monday I'll see what's leftover. Though today would be a perfect day to go to goodwill because I know all the regular resellers are going to be at toysrus instead! I did pick up a Geffory reuseable shopping/gift bag for myself, they really didn't have any stock that I wanted overall anyways. Our store has always been plagued with old stock except at Christmas time due to high prices.

Your best bet is to call the store (whichever near you are closing) as soon as they begin their sales. I remember when Borders went under we snagged 2-3 shelves for $100 each, which was a neat price apparently. I'd imagine they'd be likely to sell as many assets as they can, but try to be the first person to buy it if they are!

Step 1: Actually get the on the phone before the line disconnects. It keeps ringing and then changes to beeping like it lost connection without ending the call.

Glad I didn't take the van to go yesterday, geez. Sorry, there were many media reports and several employees told me first hand it started Thursday. I did have to go back and have them price adjust my order because the actual sales prices were not ringing up even though they said they were honoring them. Watch your receipts!

They are not answering phone calls at the stores anymore (per my local managers), so you just have to come in.

I am an hour from my nearest one too.  Sucks that they are not answering the phone anymore.  That is kind of bizarre, I think.
