Toys R Us closures incoming

As part of their reorganization plan following chapter 11 bankruptcy, Toys R Us has announced they will be closing 182 stores across the US. Going out of business sales will start in February and end in April.

While it's a shame, it's not surprising. Toys R Us stores and outlets have been declining for some time and their product prices tend to be quite inflated. Maybe if you're near one of the closing stores you can get some good deals!

Wall Street Journal has confirmed they will be closing almost all, if not all, of its stores in the US and UK.

I held my breath as I scrolled down...looks like none of the TRUs in my area are closing. I can't decide if I should be happy they'll still be within driving distance, or sad that I'm not gonna score those sweet, sweet clearance deals.
It was probably wise of them to wait until after the fourth quarter wrapped up. Perhaps Christmas sales ended up more than covering operating costs for the past few months.

I saw that earlier today, luckily the one right near me isn't closing. I'll definitely be stopping by for the sales if I'm in Columbia in the next couple of months though.

Aww I saw this last night, it looks like my two favorite locations will be closing The one closest to me will luckily stick around, but the other two were older style stores with the rainbow front and they were much larger with a better selection of toys. Hopefully I can at least snag some deals from them.

The only one in my area is closing. That's a shame, we used to spend a lot of time in that store. But I think the demographics in the area shifted from families to empty nesters.

A whole bunch are closing in the UK as well. Not my London one though, I don't think...it's one of the flagships for the UK.

The Toys R Us they're closing nearest to me is actually a Babies R Us.  It hasn't been an actual Toys R Us for about 10 years.

When I was looking at the ones in NY, I noticed there was a PA one mixed in: the one in Williamsport, PA is closing. So I don't know if you caught it or what part of PA you're in, but that was an error I noticed in the list.

Same here, ours is closing and it's super sad. They get a lot of things you don't see at Walmart or Target and there's no such thing as mom-and-pop stores anymore.

I'm extra bummed because my grandma used to work there and I have a lot of memories of her there. Now that she's passed away there's nowhere to go that she used to be.

I'm surprised at the one in Colorado closing. It's a new store built only about 5 years ago moved from down the road to be an anchor for that shopping center.
I don't live near that one anymore but it's interesting to see that the one closest to me now in California is not on that list because the area it's in has gotten really trashy imo. Guess it still brings in enough.
