Lovebeam needs... love.

This poor girl! She was the last Colorswirl I needed, and at just $15 I just had to adopt the poor girl.

Symbols are almost gone, stripes faded, dirty, and scraggly hair. I'm not even sure where to start! In a way I'm looking forward to doing my best for her, but there comes the question...

She is not a common pony, so I wonder how far I should go in the restoration process. Repainting? Rehairing? I know it's always up to the pony's mommy/daddy, but I'd like to know: what would you do?

I would just remove any marks and give her a bath and straighten her hair out and call it good. I like to keep ponies very close to original condition. I think the faded stripes makes her unique.

I’m p bad at these decisions too, but I can tell you I don’t think rehairing her would be worth it. I don’t mind rehairs, but many collectors have a problem with it and her hair looks p salvageable. Lots of conditioner and a little bit of heat (hot water, hair straightener WITH TOWELS SEPARATING HAIR FROM THE IRON) should tame the majority of that frizz. The body is where I’m just not sure. I’ll let other collectors weigh in on that part

Yeah, I figured the hair is worth a try. I've pulled off some pretty good saves with manes and tales, but the body... whew. The idea of repainting anything on a less common pony isn't an easy decision. I'm leaning toward leaving it, but having basically no symbols... I dunno.

If it were me, I'd clean her up, leave her body as is and rehair her in complimentary colors. Pale blue and pink would look great with the pale yellow  :)

Diggin' the yellow stripes, I think they look better than the original orange.
As for where to begin, I'd probably go with a good bath and scrub, check her insides for rust, and condition the hair.  Then see where things stand.  You can always move up to a more drastic effort (defrizzing, and then rehairing) so start with the simplest first.

She is quite unique in that coloring! Personally I would clean her up really well and just try to straighten her hair. I wouldn't repaint. I kinda like her that way and too much repainting to me makes it almost seem like it would have been better off using a baity bride and making a custom. :D
Congrats on finding her and good luck fixing her up however you choose! :D

I'd probably just fix her hair. I seriously love those yellow stripes.

She looks very unique. I would go with pretty pastel colors. :) The light yellow makes her stand out.

Fix up her hair and body and repaint the symbol? She sure is pretty despite it all.

OMG! You are from Madison, WI?  Same here  ^.^

As for your pony, I would probably re-hair her in some complementary colors and make her the fourth member of the set

Thank you for all your suggestions, everyone! I'm leaning toward doing my best with her hair and just cleaning her up. I MIGHT repaint her symbols but leave the stripes.

If I get an upgrade someday then I might turn this one into an alt rehair.

Honestly i'd say keep the stripes like that, i think it looks better than what they are supposed to look like.
