Gel Pen Recommendation
« on: January 04, 2018, 07:37:31 AM »
Can someone recommend a brand of "gel pens" that write and show up on black paper?  I know there are a thousand cheap ones out there, but I don't have time for that, and I don't have the patience for them either.  I received a pretty cool glow in the dark calendar for Christmas, but the whole thing is black so regular pens won't show up.  I prefer to just buy a few singles if I can find them, but I'll buy a package of them as well.  I just want to make sure I avoid the cheap China crap.

Help?

I see why you're having trouble. All I can seem to find are ones that glow under black light.

Sakura Gelly Roll makes several different styles that write on black paper.  Their Moonlight, Kirara, and Souffle pens for sure do.

I agree with Sheen. Sakura makes some of the best gel pens!  Their Gelly Roll pens are long lasting and many will show up on black or dark backgrounds. You can also buy them singly or in packages. A bit expensive but totally worth the money!  I’d recommend the Moonlight or Soufflé pens bcau we ofbtheir bright colors. The Soufflé pens have a matte finish.

GELLY ROLL!  That is exactly the brand that I was trying to remember....I remember buying those things back in like middle/high school when they first came out and they were all the rage.  God I'm old!

Yep, Gelly Roll all the way. Sakura pens are amazing, I'm in love with their metallic pentouch fineliners at the moment, they're so shiny!!

Yup. My wife uses Gelly Roll for her art. They're the best ones she's found.

Another vote for Gelly Roll! I loooove how smooth they are! I have several of the sparkle pens, a set of the metallic, Moonlight (awesome bright bold colors), and Glaze (slightly shiny finish and they leave a raised texture.) I don't own Souffle but I know both them and Moonlight are recommended for dark paper.

Gelly Roll is so awesome I use the plain pens to draw my plush patterns on my fabric.  There's really nothing they can't do!
