The fact it's the only review makes the line look bad and could damage it further. It needs US people to go in and leave other reviews to balance out those opinions so buyers can get a better range of views, rather than just one which frankly doesn't seem to match the normal experience.

I completely agree.  I'm going to leave a positive review and I encourage other collectors to leave them as well.  I don't begrudge the reviewer her experience, but it certainly wasn't MY experience.

I already have. Its not my daughter's experience. I'm guessing the kid was either a lot rougher, or she got one with a major factory flaw.

The biggest problem is that only the 1 star review is showing on the UK preorder site, even though it is as Ponyfan says, originally on the pony listed under the different manufacture name. Does make me wonder if these are the same toys at all. In any case, UK amazon won't allow any reviewing from the UK for a preorder item, which makes sense. But it will import a questionable review from Amazon.com...Sigh.

Okay, so this is interesting.  I googled "Schylling" to find out if it's a real toy company.  It is . . . and it also has the collector ponies listed on their website:

http://www.schylling.com/p/retro-my-little-pony

Is it possible that Basic Fun / Bridge Direct is producing them for the US and Schylling is producing them for . . . somewhere??  Or is Schylling maybe another branch of Basic Fun?

The MIB pony they have pictured (Minty) does have the Basic Fun logo on the bottom right hand corner of the box . . .

Edit:  I also found an article discussing Basic Fun's plans (in broad strokes) now that TRU has gone under.  There is definitely an emphasis on moving their products to Amazon which I must say makes a lot of sense.

http://www.giftsanddec.com/article/551786-basic-fun-remains-confident-toy-industry-amidst-tru-bankruptcy/

Quote
“The toy industry as we know it has been around for over 100 years, and it’s not going anywhere,” Foreman added. “We’ve been through wars, financial crises, upheavals in retail, the advent of video games and mobile gaming, and we have always found a way to bounce back and thrive. We are an industry of dynamic entrepreneurs and creative innovators, and no one should bet against us.”

I want them to succeed so badly, not just because they makes ponies but because they really have the spark that a toy company should have.

On the UK Amazon they are listed as Basic Fun.

I wonder if the Unicorns and Pegasus will be coming in packs? It would probably cost about the same to grab all the ones we want anyway and I could trade off Twilight and Glory for ponies DD wants.

Hmm. That seems a little too good to be true. How much was the original Pretty Parlor? But if it is, then its a really sweet deal!

$20 seems about right to me?  $10 for pony $10 for the plastic playset-

I think the original was cheap too- (it must have been or my mother wouldn't have bought one for each of us!)

I am positive that Schylling is a subsidiary or affiliate of Basic Fun-  one of my corporate clients has about 15 different company names they operate under (all TECHNICALLY different- for tax and liability purposes-  but really, they are the same people exactly)

Well it's pony, cat, saddle, 2 hats, brush, and plastic case. Not a whole lot of accessories. Roughly the equivalent of 2 ponies complete with everything.

Thanks everyone for the info on Schylling. I wasn’t sure if it was a different brand name or part of Basic Fun.  I’m excited for Peachy and the Pretty Parlor too. :)

Hmm, I'm happy see that the Parlor may not have been cancelled after all, but I remain only modestly optimistic for now. I'll believe it when I see it.
