Do you think there will still be exclusives? They had a Toys R Us exclusive 3 pack for Strawberry Shortcake with Lime Chiffon but now with TRU going out of business Target will be the only major brick and mortar retailer carrying retro ponies. It would be a shame because I would have liked them to do some of the mail order ponies as exclusives. Like maybe a Tux n Tails and Satin n Lace wedding set.

~$20 for rainbow ponies? That's twice as much as the Collector ponies are! I hope they appear for  $10 in the US like the CP ponies.

Also, are the retro ponies with the modern ponies at TRU or elsewhere?

Well... it depends on store.

I went to one Toys R Us (a more modern layout from 2010) and they had the ponies and their tag with the modern G4 ponies.

I went to another Toys R Us (an older layout, like early 2000s) and it was in the "imaginarium" section with the schleich figures. It wasn't too far from their Strawberry Shortcake dolls.

I would check both locations in your local TRU

I’m really hoping that Toys R Us closing will not affect us getting more retro ponies. I’m excited for the Rainbows, unicorns and pegasus sets.

My Target has been out of them the past few times I went. My daughter decided she likes them better than any of the newer lines. Figures, eh? LOL!

Given all the interesting G1 stuff from the Netherlands and the mix of ponies you seem to have had over there, I'd be surprised if this project cut you out :)

I really hope you're right!

I just :cheer: over this post quite loudly making my husband jump and look at me. I have informed him that I will be spending $60 soon at Target and he smiled and dared me to spend that little.

Any idea when these will be rolling out?

My Target still has a full set of 6 and several retro Strawberry Shortcake dolls. I was seriously considering getting a Butterscotch to debox (I already have a full set in their boxes) but changed my mind.

I've been reading from the first post. Haven't been in the loop for the longest time and hope there are still some come later this month when I go back up!

My Target is sold out & none the last 2x I went.  Not sure if it's the collectors or ebayers >_<.  Saw doubles of Strawberry Shortcake dolls (no raseberry).  I emailed BasicFun regarding rainbow ponies release in the US about a month ago & received no reply   Also suggested direct sales for future releases bc the ponies are sold out, no restock, no availability, hard to find :(  And if we could get more announcements re: mlp line & more specific release dates :work:

I suggest trying facebook. They do sometimes reply then. Email, I got a reply after about 2 months and they didn't reply to my question. I asked about collector ponies in the UK and got an email about rainbow ponies and the US but it didn't say anything about whether they would for sure be sold in the US.

Basic Fun denied to me on facebook that they have told anyone in the US there's a release date for the rainbow ponies over there. But the Good Housekeeping article suggests otherwise. So I am not really sure that all arms of the business have the same information. One of the reps told me the pony community/pony fandom is so huge that it's hard to keep up with answering all the enquiries. I guess that's a good sign.

But the US at least gets some info. I mean, they're still telling us they don't know when the Rainbows are coming out in Europe and they're in France already :P. But the online Swedish site says June/July. So basically I'm thinking they could appear int he UK any time between now and July. Well, that narrows it down ><.

I can finally confirm a CP sighting at my Toysrus, but guess it doesn't matter now as they are closing.  I would never had found them in the section they were in though on a regular visit, but today I was looking for deals so looking in sections I don't normally visit.

I've been eyeing the sets on eBay, but by the time I pay for postage to Australia and convert USD to AUD, I'll be looking at well over $200.  That's they kind of money I normally put towards grails or Nirvanas, so I'm hesitant to spend the money on these 35th anniversary ponies.  Back during the 25th anniversary I snagged the reproduction collector's sets, so I'll probably just have to make do with that set. Such a shame they're not being released in Australia  :(

Even though I hinted to my family that these would make a good birthday present, I sadly didn't get any.  Possibly they were sold out if they tried to find them.  So I guess I am back to trying to get a set on my own.  ;)  Right now I only have Blossom.  Fortunately I work within walking distance of a Target.

BTW, I found a cute video that compares the 80s Collector ponies to the 35th anniversary Collector ponies, in case anyone would like to see the differences:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiuFiQNsYmQ

It even has a little skit based off a G1 pony's backcard . . . can you guess the pony?  ;)
