I try not to use the thermostat unless it's deathly cold. A heating bill can really jack up our electricity bill in the winter, so I try to throw on sweaters and blankets first.

Layers!! I don't touch our thermostat, and our house is old and drafty. I usually have a sweatshirt or sweater on, and socks are a very important part of winter.  :cold:

I love breaking out my comfy socks and slippers in winter. I have a pair of warm Pinkie Pie socks that have gotten me through many a bleary freezing night!

I sweat all the time. I still have my fan on at night. Only have a thin MLP throw blanket as of yet.
I think the rest of the apartments heat mine up.

Funny I should find this post today.... I was just thinking as I was driving to work today...
In winter 40 degree weather = shorts, In summer 40 degree weather is time for a sweater.
So far this season we have only had 3 days of single digits. I love the cold, but hate driving in the snow.

... wondering when if at all I will need to break out the feather blankets.

I live in an apartment building. Since there isn't an option for "my neighbors have the heat so high I don't need to worry about feeling cold" isn't an option. I went with the blanket and layers option because I will take that course when I actually am cold. It just gets to stuffy in a building with the heat on. Plus blankets are comfy and kitties make excellent heaters.
