Re-rooting a Princess Pony!
« on: November 29, 2017, 05:47:54 PM »
I couldn't find anyone else asking this, so does anyone know anything about opening up princesses? I have a Primrose with fairly frizzy hair (and I cannot stand tinsel. I've been de-tinselling any pony that comes to me with it) and I noticed her rump is super firm between those big plastic symbols, and her head is on super tight. Is there some kind of mechanism in there or something? I'm super unfamiliar with these.

Nope, no mechanism! Your pony is hard because the plasticizer probably leaked.

MLP Preservation has a little subsection that explains what's between the rumps of the Princess Ponies: http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/symbols.html#PrincessPonySymbols
It would just be tricky to remove the tail because of the little sticky-out-y bits on the inside.

I hadn't looked under symbols... Now I feel pretty silly. Thank you! That's like the only place on the internet Ive even seen that

The Princesses have harder bodies in general :)

The thickness you can feel round the symbol is the "bolt" holding the medallion in place :bigups: the tail is simple enough to be removed will pliers once you've removed the heard. Don't be surprised when you find her tail is made of two parts ;) it's how they were made.

You remove all the tinsel in your pony hair ? Oh my, that sounds awful. That's not very preservation-friendly.

Actually, de-tinseling is quite common.

Ow, that makes it worse. It's common but still not preservation friendly. It hurts a little to hear that.

Oh, I don't de-tinsel the G1 ponies, just my G3 ponies. My Pony Bride is safe and far away from my eager snippers, don't worry lol. This particular Princess just already had frizzy hair, and she's not exactly hard to find

Well, I know iridescent tinsel can me a tad annoying, but still.... even with G3's that's not preservation friendly.:lol: We'll see when they are going to be 30y/o too.

Oh I had noticed that! I did remove her tail, not even needing to remove her symbols, and it is in two pieces. I thought it was weird haha

I wish I knew how to stick LED lights in her, because the clear symbol bits would look pretty neat if they lit up!
