PC on colombian blossom and south africa (poor) moonstone
« on: November 12, 2017, 12:11:19 PM »
Hello,
I'm considering selling this two ponies, can you help me to decide what I should ask for them ?

Colombian Blossom :
a blue mark behind right ear, plastic is a bit rough at some places, there are kind of bubbles on legs.
Really not bad for a colombian pony to my point of view

South african Moonstone :
no tail and a big hole where a tail should be. mane is really really shortened. other than that, good eyes and symbols

Oooh!  It's been so long since I've seen a South African or Colombian pony for sale, I'm too out of date with prices.  Will be interested to see the asking prices when you decide on them.

well all I can say is I paid $4K for one with hair and good symbols but I have no idea of the markdown on the rehair candidate

colombian in general in the $100-$200 range IMO

The lack of hair may reduce Moonstones price a little, it is hard to tell by how much as it depends on the collector who is buying.

The last Moonstone to sell openly here went for $2765 in 2016, but I'm not surprised to hear one sold for $4000.

It's tricky, I think it's best to take offers with a reserve in mind :)

Again I'm not totally sure on the Colombian, I think taking offers over $150.

Didn't the last one here sell for 4250$ ?
That's what I read in a topic of july 2016.

I don't manage to imagine how much such a lack of hair can reduce the price :/

I have another question.
I always considered this blossom as colombian because that's what I bought her for on ebay some years ago.
But as she is my only colombian pony I'm not sure. Someone asked me if I'm sure she's colombian, and I have to say that I'm not, how can I be sure, how do you tell a pony is colombian for sure ?

Thanks for your help !

I’m finding price checks harder and harder these days.

If you have looked at the the same sales thread as me, then you must be right :) I did find it a bit confusing as they took offers  since both you and maycrestmom have said the same amount then you must be correct!

It’s very hard to price these thing and flaws can make it harder

Blossom is most definitely Colombian, only the Colombian ponies have those colours, the blue eyes and that type of thick, rubbery plastic for their bodies. She should have no country under her feet too (some have Italy)

hi 4k is the right price on a moonstone. hair can greatly affect a pony price a lot of people will not touch them without the good hair and it drastically affects the price. I have had a few bubbles and the one with cut hair not missing hair is way less. I agree with taking offers on her but if I had to guess maybe 1000-1500??? because they can not afforded her ever in the great shape.

honestly I overpaid IMO because it was an arena friend and I am going with PKW as that to me seems more where I have seen SA's in the $1000-$3000 range most often when on bid or buy, evilbay etc. and yep, I was thinking about $800 for her but agree offers are the best way to go

here's what I can say about venne hair vs. colombian and I believe the plastic of a venne would be smooth and flat foot as opposed to concave.  CP often have like "scars" on the CP mold and seem thicker IMO.  The eyes are all over the place to me.  Like AJ's here looks like the boys but I have seen really sloppy baby and CP eyes that seem closer to venne airbrush

wish there were more of these guys around :-) I do love the colores vivos of south america :-)

Thank you MCM and Bubbles for your replies :bigups:

MCM I think we've all over paid at some point, but it is worth it for an extra special pony.

I love that Cherries Jubilee  and that's a great comparison of Vennie vs. Colombian :)

I'll open a thread in the sales section, maybe tonight.

yes please know I am not adverse to over-paying in that sense we sometimes joke about our pony-banking system how we buy/sell and it's really just a lending exchange to decorate the shelves for awhile ;-) so all good in that sense it is cool to hold hasbro history in hand and I really do love the childhood memories that go along with the fun times playing with ponies ...'nuff said

forgot I had a bluebelle in those colors and a blossom to compare prints with  a venne-butt.

I would tend to think yours is colombian just all those venne squeaky-butts have me questioning if there were more regular venezuelans made before that whole bisanti sell-off  so anyhow

here's the two blossom symbol styles - venne is blue / colombian is white

The bottom of the hoofs are both concave but the venne does not have the pat. pend. on the stamp hoping it shows OK (cannot really see bottom of white) and if you can see the venne concave in this case is different - more a small depression/circle

but do you see what I mean about the eyes?  I think venne have a smaller blue iris in general

so there ya go :-) that's what I can share about these guys and all the best on your sales thread :-)
