I would love to have color changing hair come back, or a merry go round style.

Merry-Go-Round G4s would be awesome! I don't have any Merry-Go-Round ponies yet, but I would love too. What a cute gimmick they have!

We did kinda have color changing hair come back with some McDonald's ponies, but it would be cool to have normal ponies with it again.

more baby ponies! we only have the cmc as brushables right now iirc, i'd love to see more variety.

twinkle eye would also be great, seems like it would still look nice even with the size difference between g1 and g4.

Oh yes -
and retro-moulded blank ponies for customs (not that they would make them, but it's a wish!) 

The HQG1 project currently has two retro-moulded blank ponies for customising purposes available (so sorry if you know about them already, I just feel the need to spread the word, haha  )

As for gimmicks I'd want? You know those projectors that project stars onto your bedroom ceiling at night? A pony about the size of a Secret Surprise one that does just that, except projecting their cutie marks... Kinda like a TAF but more technology, haha

There are more fillies beyond them (Star Dreams, Silver Spoon, Diamond Tiara, Twist-a-Loo, and Twirly Treats), but I would like to see even more! Some colts would be cool, too.

For the carousel thing, I have actually even bought a vintage matchbox carousel for the purposes of customizing G4s to go on it.  Now if only I could actually get around to doing it!

I agree with all the retro ideas! G1s as G4s, G4 as G1s, and all the ideas to have ponies from the old sets again (TE, TAF, etc).

But I would be most happy if the gimmick was anything other than, let's just keep releasing the same ponies over and over again.

I agree!  Wouldn't it be frustrating if they decided to do all these gimmicks but only ever did them with the mane6/princesses?
