Are you looking only for spcific coat colors when you're choosing a cat or does it not matter? Do you have any favorite coat colors? If yes, which?

Actually I got my Vinny which was all based on his personality and instant rapport with me.  I normally would not choose a cat that looks like he does, I went for who he was.  None of the cats I have adopted over the years were picked due to coat.

Looks never mattered with any animal I've adopted.

Coat color doesn't matter to me, it's personality.  However, that being said, as a child I said I wanted a cat of every color.  Now, I almost have that although it was by coincidence.  I have white, black, orange, gray, and a dark tabby.  I'm just missing a calico and dilute orange and the basics would be covered.

I put Important as it is part of what draws me to a cat, but if that cat doesn't seem very friendly then I'll just keep looking!

Looks don't matter to me when it comes to kitties... except I do gravitate towards gray tabbies. I think that no matter what I will always need a gray tabby in my life. (in fact, all of the household kitties that are technically 'mine' are gray tabbies  :P one of the kitties that is half mine is a tux though)

My cats have always found me, and they've had a whole assortment of coat colors.

Yes and no, I love black cats, dark grays and wheat-and-chocolate colored cats, but ultimately it would come down to personality and personal connections between us.  Just as it would other animals.

I sure do enjoy specific breeds and patterns, but if I’m adopting a new pet of any kind I don’t care what they look like. I think of them like I think of making people friends, it’s what’s on the inside that counts! :)

Only time it matters is if it's a black cat, which I own one now. Otherwise it dosen't matter.

Well after my Tora passed, and I waited a year before deciding I wanted a second cat again.. I had originally said I wanted an all black cat, because my other cat is white and orange and the fur shows up on everything I wear and its kinda a pain. However the cat that found me is white and black. :p
So even though I had some color in mind, it really didn't matter, I've had Pixel for a few years now, and shes a lil twerp but I love her for who she is, and she found us.

All of our cats are sort of rescues or accidents. Colour doesn't matter, and we struck gold when it came to personalities. We are however discussing fur length for our next addition (which I hope is a couple of years away).

I reckon it is personality and health commitments that are the most important factors when choosing a pet.

As a non cat-owner, my only experience is with dogs - some of the "Heinz 57" mixed breeds have heaps of personality when compared with some of the grumpy pedigrees!  one exception is a cocker spaniel that we know - sweet face, silky black fur and the happiest, friendliest personality, he is so at-ease that he happily falls asleep at your feet after a tummy rub!

I think all cats are lovely (crazy cat lady in training here :) ), and I wouldn't say no to any colour. My cat chose me rather than the other way around....maybe he specifically wanted a human with dark fur/hair? Or maybe he just fell for my friendliness and ready supply of cat food.

my last cats were a silver tabby and a black and white so after they had to be put to sleep (the tabby at 9 the black and white a 12:( ) I didn't want the same colour cats as I think I would have ben comparing them so I got one ginger and white with one eye and a mad slate grey and white  but other wise colour doesn't matter to me also it could have 1 eye  1 ear a leg and half its tail missing and I would still take it :)
