DUDE... Just spotted the ultimate fakie for that neglected G1 character named  :rainbow: Rainbow Locket!!!
 :frolic: L.O.L. I must have!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_njQygVkEc

Wrong link?
Nope, not wrong link... that's Rainbow doing what rainbows do... running through the air! I know not everypony here is from gen 1 so maybe I ought to have explained better but Rainbow Locket (also called Rainbow of Light) was not a pony...  it was like the sentient superhero protector of Dream Valley though and really cool... I'll have to post my pony fakies later... got a lot of them!
Well, considering that this is a thread about fakies, and that's a video of a girl doing a dance, it is a little confusing ;) I think Beatles was expecting a toy. It does resemble the Rainbow though!
Mmm... guess toy can be in the eye of the beholder... not a dancer... but rainbow-WOW! Been dreaming of a decent rainbow to flow around my ponies since I was a kid. Closest I ever came was a multicolored ribbon on a stick.

By the way, if you haven't yet, you have to check out Glitter Yolk's small print link to the fakie pinterest page she maintains... truly amazing!

Man... thought at first you'd posted to the wrong thread... pretty realistic fake my brain was still busy trying to decide whether Hasbro had contracted with lego or with playmobil.

As promised and long overdue pictures of my beloved fakie herd with id's on everyone I could help with. Have great fun!

That’s a presently common “Fisher Price Sooth and Glow Seahorse” whose belly lights up like a glo-friend he additionally plays gentle water sounds and several pieces of classical music softly before shutting automatically back off. Came in pink and in blue. Pity Hasbro sea pony toys to my knowledge have yet to actually sing.

The large brown horse might seem like simply a knock off of the 1981 Romper Room pony  as his tail does flick and his eyes are simply painted on… but you know he also is motorized pull back and bounces the saddle while he flicks his tail and makes cloppity sounds therefor my parents called him ‘clip-clop’ but I always called him ‘click-clock’ after the gears visible in his hooves… had started out thinking they said it too. He’s pretty sturdy and surprisingly hugable for a hard body horse except rubber tracks sometimes dry out and fall off think he’ll go on without those and the hair of his tail can tug out. He tends to loose his red reign and his cowgirl friend sometimes. Goes by “1984 CBS Toys Ideal Kitt & Kaboodle.”

My big baby spike fakie is a gift and can be personalized, wherever it comes from the tags read Cubbies Ltd. & Enterprise Centre Blackpool” and seems to be made in China for a manufacturer in the UK. He’s got a zipper in his butt and has a pillow inside him so you can also use him for a fakie Keypers I guess.
The refreshing green plush is not at first glance anything out of the ordinary but there is something about...

this is another of the childhood ponies it took me years to replace I swear the worst grails to have left to find are your obscure fakies not the expensive ponies everyone tweets over to make it easier. Finding them again can be purely random and a huge time investment. She is a “1984 KB Bros Inc. Pony Tails (TM) groomable playhair” just try to remember all that if you are five and the tag is snipped off. I got my original from a man selling them inside a tent and they came in many different light gay colors.

The flanking ponies are vintage “Animal Fair Product” made in Korea. The green was a hard won replacement for my first pony ever, like before G1 windy… that you see is my problem, I imprinted upon a fakie at an early age. Their rainbow friend is a zebra I call Ziggles… but I know nothing about him other than that he was made in china, am sure glad so many of you were still asleep when I got him secondhand on ebay for practically nothing. The rainbow creeps into his eyes…

I think near everyone has seen these alicorns but I especially like mine.

I think of my trio as the rainbow sherberts and they make my mouth water. If we ever figured out who manufactured these I missed that memo and would like to know. Mine all have different symbols.

Going round my unidentified remco baby fakie (my actual baby remco fakies fell apart) my balding Totsy unicorn, my Soma elephant, mcdonald’s corp muppet babies horse on wheels, and his buddy a 2002 Mattel rocking horse. All fairly common.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

but the Soma I have does glow in the dark… actually much brighter than the cheap camcorder does justice to. My original had been darker yellow and hadn’t glowed so that was an after-purchase surprise, as  a child ‘rainbow elephant’ was Baby Surprise’s loyal but unhelpful pet always sneaking out of the dollhouse to go on quest with the babies and either getting himself in trouble or being in the thick of it with them all suddenly useless except for the moral support. I like to pretend that in the lost years rainbow elephant got superpowers whilst he was missing… albeit knowing him it was likely of the ‘fell in a vat of toxic waste’ type incident if you remember the line from the movie Sky High.

Now wait a minute what are you doing in thread? Yes you are a pony fakie but not of MLP!

My unidentified pudgy shetland pony with her croonies Divinity (left) and Schleich (right). I hope she is happy...

Everybody knows Hasbro Cabbage Patch Magic Meadows, mine are hanging with strawberry shortcake pony Pistachio, who is jointed and of course smelling sweet.

Unicorn bike is marked 2002 NRG INTL LTD other than that she’s just a lucky find. The hair behind her mane is rooted in her head, she’s both painted and combable. Her wheels and pedals really turn, her front wheel and head can turn together additionally and she’s largely transparent. She has no kickstand so leans upon a Chap Mei unicorn I like to pretend is Whisper the Winged Unicorn’s false friend Crystal from the storybook. The deer behind them is an unknown vintage Christmas decoration of a pvc I’d guess most similar to a totsy to which the flocking doesn’t peel even though you can squeeze him slightly in it’s all stuck by  individual hairs. I do not know his brand. The original lived with my childhood herd and I’d always considered him a So Soft Pony Friend fakie as his flocking is nearly as durable.

Group 8
In back my Marchon Enchanted Kingdom Horses and green sunshine fakie… did we ever learn who made the sunshine fakie?

In front a baby fancy pants fakie custom circus clown and a similarly unmarked blue fakie with head reared skyward.

Perhaps a custom only a mother could love, but sweetly crude makeup all the same.
Her decided-upon mommy, some pony I really have come to think of as ‘Sally the camel’...

My Lanards of various years. The giraffe goes by Miz Sunshine Orange Juice to my herd.

Group 10
The dog is marked 1996 M.I.G. and the brand was known as “Puppy Dog Tails” I want to give my poodle circus clown hair once I’ve found enough colors I like that I know won’t bleed but haven’t been in a hurry. The other two are wait for it...
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Ordinary “Kid Connection” knock offs from wal-mart. Believe it or not every once in a blue moon there is something cool in one of those playsets. The mammoth I call Mr. Shaggy Ketchup and he had added some joyful red to my herd since G3. His body is solid like the G3s but his tusks are soft rubber so they don’t poke anyone, his trunk softer pvc around a wire that can adjust sightly.

Aw the old standby Moondreamer friends together watching over a Ty Beanie Boos keychain with a serious case of the pinkness.

Group 12
Aw where would I be without these or more importantly… who would parent the herd’s Wheel Pals babies? These four are my G1 merry go round/ MLP friend type fakie carousel animals. They were made once upon a time by Kid Kore as actual accessories to their fakies of barbie’s kelly dolls. They have letters on the bottom of them in alphabetical order but sadly I don’t think they ever finished that alphabet. I have all the non-pony animals I’ve ever seen of them, there are also black and white horses and a cart I have not collected but nowhere near 26 seem to be roaming. Finally the pony hidding among them as the odd one out once pulled a SILVERLIT brand circus carriage which was key wound, motorized, animated, and whistled carrying various animals… she was not supposed to come free but was liberated by a misplaced foot one day. Still love her unapologetically super red hair and droll mouth despite that her saddle was really a sticker!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Though we’ve yet to start a thread for fakie accessories I consider a couple to be worthy of mention, the Playskool Twins baby buggy for it’s seating capacity and the Fisher Price Amazing Animal Trains (stickers not included… that was me again) who can not only hold so many of your non-sitting ponies and friends of all generations but is motorized, lights up, makes animal noises and sings cute Fisher Price songs about our animal friends in a voice as HYPER-happy as the voice belting out the tunes in G3’s Runaway Rainbow flick.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Speaking of rainbows a judiciously selected ample supply of the fakies mixed with your normal MLP herd can put you into a rainbow rapture… I’ve never understood fixating upon only one fakie mold and assembling an army-shelf of clones always to be customized tomorrow. Anymore I think I max out somewhere around four of the same mold of anything.

Wow. That's a great collection of fakies.  I've always loved the Enchanted Kingdom horses and foals.
I really like those Lanard unicorns you have.   So many cool items I haven't seen before.

Yeah well I'm a little strange and... I might love fakies a great deal... but they are all in the same herd for me. Have you ever noticed assuming you ever came accross the vintage MOTU that the Enchanted Kingdom Horses fit She-ra far better than the ones made by Mattel? Funny things like this abound in toyland when you start coloring outside your brand. I wasn't kidding when I said Glitter Yolk has an amazing pinterest page by the way, her tiny link on this thread is not to be missed if you love other ponies & friends!

Amazing collection Lore, I'm in love with that zig zag fakie. It's one of few glass-eyed fakies I like!

Those are usually produced by Gigo toys, but I haven't seen any family sets featuring them in a while. :(

Are there any places to get info on fakies?

http://www.fakietopia.com/fakietopia
http://the-fakie-hideout.weebly.com/the-fakie-guide.html
http://www.mlplovers.com/fakies.htm
http://home.pacbell.net/booth71/preserve.htm

None of those seem to work.

EDIT: ah, the fakie guide works with VPN

/cracks knuckles

As Lore mentioned I do have a Pinterest in my sig, but not everyone has a pinterest to browse it properly and I really just post fakies I'm personally interested in keeping a reference for. Not to mention they're usually lacking their brand names/company names!

Aside from the Fakie Hideout you posted (which I believe is no longer active), there's also the mylittlefakie and mylittleimposterpony proboards, but they are both dead too.

Original forum: http://mylittlefakie.proboards.com
Moved forum: http://mylittleimposterpony.proboards.com

Vetten's guide (not active) is here, fakies are included: https://vetten.weebly.com

And this guide/community, also dead unfortunately: https://fakie-goddess.livejournal.com

If you do have a Pinterest, there's also my friend who posts a great many more boards than I do!: https://www.pinterest.com/harperrobin9579/

There's Ghostofthedoll, an 80s/90s toy forum where you can search for threads about fakies and ask to see if anyone knows, but it's admittedly not super active either: http://ghostofthedoll.co.uk

There's a spot on the wiki for some of the more well-known ones: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Fakies

There's a small flickr group that no longer appears active: https://www.flickr.com/groups/fakies/pool/

As a final alternative I also check the mlparena archived site, but the search function does not work, you can only look through threads manually rather than through key words: http://mlparena.com/archive/

A big problem for these dead sites is missing images, due to that time when photobucket held everyone's images hostage. If you're looking for information on fakies, the most active site that could reliably provide information would be to ask here on the arena, unfortunately.

One thing I cannot provide is the mlp Facebook group, as I don't have one myself. If you have one I'd encourage you to check!

TLDR;

Most fakie-dedicated sites are completely dead and missing images, sadly. I do update my Pinterest when I feel like, but certainly not regularly, you're better off just asking around on the arena!

So maybe that you specialize but you certainly have brought something unique. At least, I searched years ago and could not find (including on some of these other sites), and you’ve just ID’d not one but two of the fakies I couldn’t find out about. (In addition to finally knowing Sally the Camel’s origins I’ve also learned the Sweetheart Sister fakie which passed through my hands years ago was a Simba.) And I don’t have a pinterest yet so haven’t seen it all. I’ve never seen anyone devote as much time to dinosaur fakie friends either, the tendency seems to be to either skip non-equine fakies, or to lump all animals together, or hide them among the brand names in case you actually know them already. I’d come to your site first with a mystery dino! Thank you for the joy you share!
