The Little Things
« on: September 21, 2017, 02:22:26 AM »
So even several years into collecting, I love that you can still be surprised by the little things that you weren't aware of.

I've been lucky enough to get a Barnacle with his hat (omg, how frikken adorable is that pirate hat!?! I never really appreciated it and its little pirate patch until now!). And I was just looking at this hat, and noticed the little skull (skull and crossbones detail) is smiling. Lol - how awesomely cute!

What fun little details have you discovered along the way with your ponies? Or is there a little something unique about a particular one that brings a smile to your face?

Is it really smiling? That's so awesome. I never knew that.

My favourite little detail is that adorable expression on the adult Sea Ponies' faces. Look at them from the front, and you'll see. I bet it'll make you smile.

Baby surprise and her acessories. I used to love playing with them as a child. I used to put my ponies in a old pet basket that was shaped round like a nursery. I didnt have the real nursery growing though I wanted it very badly.
Also recently I found 3 little nightgowns the newborns wore. I was so happy and surprised. I am only missing just one now. They look so cute with them on so adorable.

I also totally love little surprise hidden details!
Discovering them after getting ponies/items in hand is just a very charming experience. Things to notice that I like:

The little apple in G3 AJ's eye mark
The fancy crest around Desert Roses' hoof heart
Rockin' Beat Guitar combs have "MLP" on it in 80s font
The crib mobile from G1 (so detailed!)
Newborn stuff
The "identical" teeny tiny twin marks
That there is a rubber ducky with the Scrub Tub & it has seapony 'feet'

G1 & 3 seem to have hidden or extra details you've got to look for a little bit sometimes

Cherries Jubilee got to be on a magazine cover! How cool is that? :)

I'll tell you; not nearly as cool as the time Truly was on TV.

Lol - totally is! I even passed the hat to my hubby (who gets terribly weary of all things pony) and he couldn't help but be amused! :D

Love the wee things you guys have picked out! There are some truly awesome ones (and some stuff that I hadn't seen before!). Keep 'em coming! xx

When I first got Hopscotch I was quite surprised that her symbol actually had tiny little numbers one to ten in the hopscotch squares just like a real hopscotch pattern, and then I saw not only that but the numbers are slightly stylised to look like they've actually been hand chalked on a pavement, then I noticed that even the lines for the squares are slightly choppy like hand chalked lines. The level of thought and attention to detail on such a miniature motif are amazing.
Keeping on cantering on.

When my first MOC Ponywear arrived and it still had the original price tag on the backcard. It was interesting to see how much it cost new and the fact that no one had removed the price tag for over 30 years.

I love the sea pony feet on Scrub a Dub tub and the sea pony statues on Paradise Estate.

Ohmygosh... wouldn't it be nice if some ponies were still the price of the original price tags lol! If only we could go back in time  :satisfied:

Just had two, thanks to Chrissytree's new website, and looking at all the brush and comb pictures. One is that the US and UK releases of Strawberry Fair/Sugarberry have slightly different shades of comb colour, and the other is that my carded Honeycomb has a weird colour brush. I thought she did before, but now, I definitely know she does.

Yay for tiny details.
Also yay for those MOC items still surviving to teach me new things about my country's ponies.
