Why are the stickers missing symbols?

BlackCurtains:
The ponies on the stickers, I mean :)

Lately, I've been browsing G1 merchandise for anything featuring the Rainbow Curls. I've certainly seen pony stickers before but it didn't occur to me until recently - they're missing the symbols!

Why? Was there a reason for that? :what:

Safflower:
I've always wondered this too! The only reasons I can come up with is that it saves the printing cost because they don't have to print multiple colors or they would have to design the symbol of the the pony to fit on the chosen pose and it would be cheaper not to. Honestly thought, I am just guessing :)

northstar3184:
In addition to the reasons Safflower gave, some of the symbols have small details that may be difficult/time consuming to capture.

Baby Sugarberry:
I wondered this too as a kid - best guess is that it was a cost-saving measure, given at the time stickers were probably made with printing plates rather than laser or inkjet type technology, it would have meant far less up-front costs to be able to just swap the colours.

BlackCurtains:
That makes sense. Sure looks odd though :P
