Plushie repair help? {Solved!}

(1/2) > >>

starryeyed:
hi!! Im giving my childhood best friend Pika a total makeover, i got him all clean yesterday (he had 10+ years of dirt on him and now hes SO YELLOW!!!) and his tail needs to be sewn back which will be no problem. But i was wondering if there was any way i could safely re-stuff his paw? (I used to drag him around by his one paw with me everywhere, now it has no stuffing in it! ;w;)

It would have to be a 100% safe method tho hes very special to me!! thank you!!

Pictures of the paw in question:

It has 1 seam on the side, and another seam that is a circle around the base of his arm
~just for fun~
Before bath (with his sister Wish Bear, also 10+ years old):

2 HOURS LATER.... (tho he still needs to be brushed out fluffy!)

Such colors!!! So squeaky clean!!!

Yes going through that small arm seam should be enough.  If you take off his arm at the rounded seams it will be very hard to sew back.  I would take a popsicle stick and push stuffing into his paw and then sew it up.  Maybe an inch of stitches, not much more than that.  Just enough to get more stuffing into him.

Skeen:
Yes, open up an inch or so in the straight seam, stuff with a popsicle stick or chopstick (stuffing bags come with one or two of these just for this purpose), then ladder stitch the hole closed.  He'll be good as new!  :)

thank you so much! and the seam won't come undone if I cut it in the middle?

lovesbabysquirmy:
I wouldn't cut anything!  I would take a seam ripper and gently pop 4-5 stitches open, stuff, then re-sew.
