No one knows how many of her were made.  :)  Her price is a combination of her being a fairly rare mail order (not the most rare though, I see Sweet Scoops a lot less) and being very popular.

She was a mailorder pony from the latter portion of the MLP toyline.   She also was worth a high amount of Horseshoe Points which meant of course, less of her were ordered.

Also the beautiful long flowing hair doesn't hurt...  ;)

I always thought her hair was longer or mane. Though she is a very beautiful pony. :) I know sometimes shes more of a status symbol and I know Goldilocks looks like her too and for less $$$. Though I like both of them.

And perhaps also due to the length of her hair it is harder to find that hair in good condition?

Long hair + small people often = Frizzy Tangled Mess

And then Mommy (or small person) cuts it

My Punzie has had a tail cut, which I suspect probably happened due to tangles because her mane is uncut and she still has the braid (that's original to her, right?).

But when I got my Punzie she was worth about $80. Not mine specifically, the pony in general.

I traded for mine, which is the nicest way to get any pony, as it avoids the annoying currency problem, but when it went skyrocketing I am not quite sure. I imagine there were some bidding wars or something that did it. I remember she peaked around 200$ for a bit and then I was out of the community for some years. When I came back she was silly money. *shrug*.

I agree with LM, Sweet Scoops comes up less (and is nicer in my view) but it is hard to find a Punzel with nice hair. I actually don't know what mine would be worth with her tail cut because I don't intend to ever sell her, but I imagine that probably it knocks some value off her price.

Then again because her price is silly money, people are understandably fastidious about her condition.

I essentially paid 50p for the pony I traded for her though, so I don't care that much...;) Mine landed on her hooves that way as I accepted her flaws and all. Even the flawed Punzies need love.

Her tail is basically not much below the photo.

And before anyone starts shouting that I ripped someone off, I didn't. It was a rare pony from a UK carboot sale and at the time the pony in question had a parity $ value to Rapunzel ;)
