Seashell Lagoon Playset Water Feature?
« on: August 26, 2017, 06:10:26 PM »
Maybe a bit of a strange question, but I love the water feature on the new seashell lagoon playset.  I'm about to get it ready to display on my desk's bulkhead, but wondered if it's safe to leave the water in the playset.  I'm assuming over time it will start to turn.  Does anyone think a few drops of bleach would hurt the playset?  Or would it be best to just display it without the water to make sure it stays safe.  Any thoughts or experiences with other water playsets?

Thanks Muchly!

That's way cool! I want one. Can you fill it as needed?

Bleach might fade the coloring and damage the plastic, so I would not recommend using it.  You might put a few drops of rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol in the water, if you want to keep water in it.

I would say that your most likely issue will be deposits left after the water evaporates, and possible damage from leaking seals.  And don't forget the possibility of leaking old batteries.  If it's going to be up there for a long time, personally I'd just prep it for long term storage(take out water and batteries). If you do want to display it with the water, make sure you use distilled water.  You're less likely to have problems.

That's a really good idea Raindrop!  Thank you! :)

And Leave a Whisper, you can fill it as needed.  It comes without the water.  There's a small cap in the top you pop open to fill or drain it whenever you want to.   My parents would have hated me having this as a kid XD

Thanks. :)

Oh and no  i wouldn't recommend using the bleach. It would make the plastic brittle.

I didn't even know there was a water feature, cool!
I agree, as fun as it is to keep it filled, for longevity I would drain it and display empty.

Finally finished today after a little target run since I decided I needed more accessories. ;)  Thanks for all the advice everyone!  I think you're right Tulips and GoP, I'm just going to display it empty to keep everything safe.  It turned out so great!  Now I can't wait for the next waves of babies and brushables to come out! (And for the castle price to come down XD)

Ooh, you know, since it's clear you could print a neat bubble graphic and just put it behind the water feature window.  :)

Or tape some bubble wrap in such a way as that it looks like bubbles!
