I had some ponies from Italy arrive in a pizza box. Also, a pony that was advertised as coming from a 'pet-free home' arrived in a cat food box....

:lmao:

My best one is probably the MOC ponies (?!) which were posted to me in a box which was also full of plush toys. These were not in the auction and the only type of packaging material included, but they were not fastened down and everything was just loose in the box. Fortunately the MOC pony I wanted arrived in the same state the auction advertised. I asked the seller if the plushes got in there by accident but apparently they weren't. I donated them to charity, so hopefully some kid is getting fun out of them now - they were Winnie the Pooh plushes, piglet and so on...

Best packaging

lol, amazing things you all named! :D

Funniest I had was an empty yoghurt box with a custom pony inside.
And my showstable with box... the box itself was used and taped with brown tape all over. Nothing inside but the loose stable pieces.
Oh and a MOC cut in shape to make it fit in the box (this one...).

That's amazing alright.

Wasn't a pony but my Princess Gwenevere stuff came in a HUGE toilet paper box. So many laughs at the post office...

I've also had the diaper box one for MOC G2s. The person who brought me to pick it up was joking around with the "So there something you want to tell us". It was funny.

lol a pizza box from Italy, at least they match xD

I've had a lot of strange packaging experiences when buying from a local online second hand shop. A lot of ponies arrived just thrown into a plastic bag and they were so tight inside it, their ears and unicorns' horns had poked holes into the bag, it looked as if they all were trying to get out.

Also my Good Morning Sunshine came in a literal gift bag. It was closed with a tape but the bag even had holes that the seller had tried to tape up. Luckily the pony had no damage.

Oh man this thread is very interesting to read! I've never had any examples myself, I've only gotten second hand ponies a couple times online and they were packaged fine, thankfully.

Once I got several G4 Ponies from the UK in a box from a ceramic decoration (of a carousel horse, interestingly enough), one of the Ponies was Fashion Style sized and I knew she was being shipped without her original package, but the box was so small I didn't realise at first that it was the box for that package

And not funny or awful but I did get a box with drawings on the side once

I've sent some stuff in one of the paper towel boxes from work, only because it was fragile so I made sure it was as securely packed, and those boxes are EXTREMELY sturdy so I knew the boxes wouldn't get ruined in the mail.

I had something mailed to me in a tea box once. I had regular diaper boxes though those are very sturdy. Not a problem. I mail ponies in cat litter boxes because I know they are sturdy and great to reuse to ship.

TWINS!!!

I had the same thing happen to me, the box was pretty greasy -_-

Ponies wrapped in newspaper or coloured tissue always ends badly -_- thankfully the stains weren't too deep so I was able to remove them.

I'm surprised how popular cereal boxes seem to be. I only had ponies arrive in one of those once, and I was worried they'd be damaged, but all was well.

Non-pony, but I used to work for a company that sells pet food, accessories etc, and more than once, customers would return bags of food not in a box, but simply with the return address scribbled on the bag! Naturally, the customers didn't receive a refund, as the bags couldn't be resold in that condition. Imagine if someone did that with a MIB pony...

I once had a UK green waterfall playset shipped to me from overseas.  It was wrapped in a black trashbag and lots of tape.   No box.  Not even bubble wrap or paper.  Just a black trash bag.    Consequently, the bottle of bubbles broke and got the whole thing soapy and sticky.

I've gotten things shipped in cereal boxes and other food boxes before.  Someone just within the last year had something shipped to them in a USED pizza box.

What... GROSS who in the world does that ? That is completely unacceptable in my book.

I think I've seen my fair share of cereal boxes and lots of walmart bags as packing materials. Not pony, but I did have a white plastic item wrapped in newspaper (very unhappy).

I've also had so many that were packing taped around bubble wrap so much that I was worried I would cut my ponies hair off

Me too on the packing tape around bubble wrap thing!!
I mean sure, the pony is pretty comfy during shipping but I'm always a nervous wreck cutting it all off

I don't have any stories, but wanted to say that these stories have been really interesting to read. It's really astounding what some people use for shipping materials.

Oh, wow, some of these stories! . . . I had a MOC Honeycomb shipped to me (for a friend in another country) in a box too small . . . a common story with the expected sad abusive post office ending. :/

Other than that, when I ship ponies myself, I might err too much on the side of over-wrapping a pony, at least a so-soft or a winger, or anything fragile-looking. In the past especially I'd obsess. I try to keep common sense in view, though!
