Watching old-school TV?

Our house's last hold out was tossed just last year. It's been on the fritz for as long as I can remember, but my FIL refused to throw it out. (we live in two halves of the same house) We had 2 flat screens, (one in our room and the guest bedroom) and the home theatre has a projector, but this stupid little pokey old telly that was constantly having to be thumped or restarted was still sitting pride of place in the living room, the one place with a HD cable setup! Finally, last year, it developed a blue line across the screen, and it was replaced with a 50-inch HD LCD. Talk about an upgrade! We left the old TV in it's cabinet, since it was a built-in, until we had time to rearrange everything, as we were moving one of the fish tanks to the old TV alcove, and of course it had to be emptied before we could move it. His wife came home and didn't even notice! She's sitting there, getting frustrated because the old TV won't turn on (it was no longer plugged in) when there's a massive flat screen right beside it, all set up and ready to go! She is literally the least observant person I have ever met, and I thought I wore the crown of oblivion, but she's waaay worse than me!

I really don't watch TV much (I mostly watch stuff on computer for short times, or I watch DVDs rather than TV), but the parents have a non flat screen TV they use everyday and it still works perfectly ..from 1996 I think . We have a TV to use for our old video games consoles too (not that I play them like I used to *sigh*) . 
 I do have a flat screen with built in DVD player as well  though (that's mine n hubbys, the parents cant touch that )

We got given a heavy old TV when we first got married 12 years ago! It's only this year we bought our own new one!!

I have a small one to play my old school games on (SNES, Game Cube, N64). I've heard you can get an upconverter for not much money but I haven't looked into it too much. MAN that thing weighs a TON!! It's 17" and I feel like it weighs 50lbs

I don't watch TV, but I do have a hand-me-down CRT in my bedroom for playing Atari games on.

I've heard that the Framemeister is quite good and versatile, but that one's pretty expensive.

We changed down our old TV about 2-3 years ago when the TV broadcast was digitalized in my country and my granny got her own LCD TV this year for her birthday.

Have one in the garage and the wood shop just hanging out, collecting dust.  Not even sure if they work.  And now I'm afraid to turn them on in case they blow up

Still have and use mine daily. I'm pretty much the only one who has one now, though Hannah has a small one that she our brother is borrowing since his flat screen died.
They're good for old games and all, so until they eventually die, even if I do eventually get myself a flat screen they're probably worth hanging on to.

Yeah we had one, it finally was going down hill, so my dad being the redneck he was took it out in the woods and shot it! Don't ask me why

The last time I remember using one was my father's house in 2006. After he moved it got replaced by a flat screen.
