Help! Pink spots
« on: August 18, 2017, 10:41:06 PM »
So I finally got my g1 ponies. Two of them have pink spots on them. They look like highlighter marks.

I'm still new to collecting and I am having difficulty finding info.

Which ponies? It is probably regrind. The plastic is breaking down. Nothing to do about it, sadly.

Some ponies, namely brightly colored ones are prone to regrind. Hasbro, to save costs would reuse plastics and pour them into other plastic mixes and over time it would separate as hot pink or hot orange spots. Can't do anything about it aside from a full body repaint.

Also it could be "saddle sores" - which is dye transfer from the accessories like the saddles and bridles. You can sunfade those out.... if you can't, it's regrind.  :)

My g1 Cotton Candy has it around her saddle area and my g1 Lemondrop has a couple of spots on her cheek.

If it's Cottoncandy and Lemondrop, then it is not regrind. Could be dye from hot pink accessories. Do you know how to sunfade?

I know the concept, I've never actually done it. I was shown a site that has cleaning/restoring methods that has been really helpful so I'll most likely do their method.
