I wonder if they're conceding to Bridge Direct.  Better price, know what you're getting, an actual reproduction of what G1 MLP was.  Oh well.

I thought these were a neat idea, but I did not go out of my way to find them, as the places that would have carried them are hours away.

yeah $20 ($15usd) here, i only bought 2 and both were princess sparkle  and i have no one to trade with and if i did trade overseas it would cost me $15 in shipping.

They seem to be gone at Hot Topics and TrU. Perhaps if the distribution had been better and stores carried all the ponies instead of constantly leaving out the Chase Figures, they'd have made a mint.

The chase figures/blind box model turned me off the set completely; I bought none of them because of the distribution model. 
I don't appreciate artificial rarity nor the idea of buying a 20$ toy only to go 'oops you already had that one, ha ha!'.

Especially in Canada!  The prices would have been stunningly outrageous (to channel Jem) ! 

Now I would be MUCH more willing to pay $30 for a vintage Bridge Direct re-make, because that will come MIB, with artwork, etc.  But not a blindbag toy, nope, not paying those prices!

Why is the idea of blind box/bag toys so popular anyway? I mean I guess everybody likes surprises and can trade away when they get repeats but wouldn't you appreciate to know what you're buying?

I don't know. For companies its a way to rake in more money obviously. Maybe for some people its the thrill of the search and surprise?  I bought three of these. One for daughter, one for friend, one for me to show support for G1 toys. I am happy with my Sundance and they were happy with Firefly and Glory so it did work out.

But I personally would have preferred to just pick and choose.

I don't like blind bags and boxes unless there's a reliable cheat system.

The same reason gambling, loot boxes and lottery tickets are popular - the psychological reward for chasing that 'big win'.  Most people will do something more often when there's an uncertain reward at the end.

It's particularly egregious though when you toss in the artificial rarity because you can't even trade away those expensive doubles as everyone else also has the same duplicates, and is looking for the 'rares'.

I could see making the flocked, GID and glittery ponies chase figures, but Gusty, Snuzzle, and Lickety Split? At least let fans be able to buy the  basic ponies without spending an absurd amount of money. That really irked me.

But I'm greatly, greatly saddened by this. I desperately wanted to see more ponies, especially TEs.

But I'm not surprised. This was their only female-targeted toyline, and it was given very limited attention compared to Power Rangers, TMNT, GI Joe, Mega Man, MOTU, and Thundercats. In fact, I don't think there were any posts on their Facebook page about the MLP line, only a couple Instagram posts, and maybe one or two mentions in the blog on their website.

Awwww, I really liked these. I was hoping for a second set with Twinkle Eye ponies. Stinks that this is it.

I was never able to find Gusty. Who was one of my most wanted from the set.
